[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This house is located right on the USA border and Canada.

Several years ago each side had their custom house. Both houses were in need of repairs, so both countries decided that they would rebuild and merge the two customs into one building.

A lawyer who had purchased the house with the purpose of making a hefty profit selling it to the mutual countries, proved to be too greedy, so the 2 countries detoured the once straight road, made it like a small island, erected the building right in the middle, giving access to both customs.

The 3 story house was empty and was surrounded by tall trees, it has now collapsed smashing many of the fir trees.

Hi Dot,

Very nice photo.
The POV is great. The road is showing the way to the house. I really like the difference on the two sides of the house. On the left there is no sun at all and on the right the shadows of the tress are projected nicely on the house.

I would prefer an aperture around f/8 in order to have more details.

Best Regards, have a nice week and TFS,
Constantinos

WOW! This is SUPER nice Dot! Your details are well seen, excellent processing here. LOVE that evening light against the old house. Great notes too!

Bonsoir Dot,
Belle perpective du chemin et cette vielle maison de douane, bon point de vue et détails, je vois qu'elle est très mal en point et près de s'effonder...

Hello Dot,
Such an interesting border story in your Note. I like how you composed this with the diagonal lead-in from the road and leading us to the decrepit house. There is good exposure management and sharpness. Regards
Danilo

Hi Dot,

Kudos for posting this, the background story is very interesting and shows that there is poetic justice every now and then. Your POV with the roading leading up to the house is very good. The light filtering through the trees onto the house gives the impression of a flicker of life and hope. TFS.

Warm regards,
Werner

Hello Dot,

Oh, how sad that the house was not grabbed by someone else and renovated!
The details of your fine shot are very graphic.
I like how the curved road leads gently to the stricken building. Your pov has created the impression that the trees are watching the house with interest whilst the autumn sun is trying its best to put new life into it!
Quite a 'moving' shot!

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Ciao Dot

The location is fantastic, I think one
little sad, being so far
of civilization, the more the picture is fantastic!
The different layers of trees at various distance give a great sense of depth and perspective.
Sharpness and clarity are superb.
Greetings,

Sergio
