[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For this Friday's theme I selected a photo of the fort on the entrance to San Juan harbor in Puerto Rico.
An imposing structure in it's own right, for the theme I wanted to exaggerate the colors and whites--blues bluer than blue, etc.--the way some postcards do.
A bit of post processing to do that, hightlights/shadows and gamma adjustments, and Neat Image for noise. The frame is just a rectangular marquee tool, inverted selection and gaussian blur added, along with a black border with a little glow.
All to just try to pull the eye into the peninsula on which the fort resided.
Not great for a normal photo, but I think in keeping with the theme for today.
Thanks,
Wilt

Very nice place Wilt! Excellent colors, what a cool place, I've never been. I like your framing it really does look like a post card!

HI Wilt
Good capture with fantastic vivid colours, your horizon is tilting a wee bit but not to the extent that is ruining the shot.

I visited that fort while on a cruise and its really impresive. The long narrow windows that overlook the sea made good shots and the visit was worth it.
Dot

a classic postcard would include more space on the left with the sea
good sharpness
horizon line is obviously tilted to the left
good attempt for the colors and the presentation

A very nice postcard! Excellent colors and detail. I would have to agree that more space on left would have made it even more attractive, but a beautiful picture just the same. TFS

Thanks for the postcard Wilt. I like this stunning view in nice saturated color. Beautiful image and well done. Jusni

Hello Wilt! Very good shot for the theme! Nice landscape, very well photographed. The light is beautiful, well done!

Mario

Hi Wilt,

You did indeed change the colours, sothat now I recognise how postcards used to look with slightly unnatural but eye catching colours.
I think I would have add more brightness after inversion to make the blurred border more white (in keeping with the suggestions made by Helen).
Thanks for sending me this postcard from Puerto Rico.

Els
