[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While taking some macro shots of flowers in my garden yesterday, I was suddenly startled by the movement of a petal and this brave tiny spider rushed forward and poised in his "attack position" as tho ready to fight the giant enemy that had envaded his territory. I smiled, and snapped a few shots.

Then I saw him clearer. Look at this brave little soldier...A spider has 8 legs. This little tiny guy only had 6...missing one of his most valuabe long legs and a smaller leg. Yet despite what foe had ripped these appendages from his tiny body, he stands in brave attack position to face me and fight again should I be the enemy....And certainly we would never win this confrontation.
But he is ready. I thank him for his portrait and wish him well, leaving him to win this battle and somehow feel he is proud of his victory despite his handicaps.......

I learned a lesson from that teeny tiny gift from Mother Nature I will never forget. No matter what the obstacle I face, or the handicaps, I will stand tall and proud and be ready to face what comes my way.

Nature is beautiful. And she is a wonderful teacher.

Beautiful picture. the theme is very good
the defense of his territory, animal instinct
Beautiful shot, and free vein with you the spider.
She was perfect, a good combination.
Congratulations, taste of this picture.

Hmmmm.....Only six legs? That almost makes her an isnect, doesn't it? Just goes to show that a reduction in defense mechanism does not deter its self defense process! A very neat post of extreme definition and a wonderful lesson. You do excell at macro!

This is such a wonderful capture of nature and all that is in it. The colors are stunning and so lively. You are right ..nature is beautiful. Lets save it.

Hi Kat,
That doesn't quite look like a spider...the legs are funny...not all similar in size. Yuck! I hope it was some kind of horrid, mutant tick! Goosebumps...
Anyhow, very nice shot. Very good dynamic composition with the spider off centered; it lets us enjoy the flower, too since you didn't make the "spider" into a bulls-eye. Nice sharpness and colors.
Well done!
Richard

Great capture of Mother Nature. Indeed she tells us many stories if we will only listen!! Great capture of a brave foe in splendid yellow!

Lovely flower! The colors are stunning! And the spider is just a wonderful extra! Everything is amazing in that shot except the blur on the top right corner.. but it really doesn't bother that much! Very good!

Hi Kathleen

I like the spider peeking out from inside the flower. Superb colour & dof.

It looks like the spider really belongs there with the flower... They match somehow!
The composition is great and the strong colours and brilliance of the photo only make it better. Great work.
