I was doing some painting while sitting in my sun porch and had the bamboo shades rolled down from the late setting sun.

I glanced up and saw this shadow of my fern in a hanging basket outside and the handmade hanging I made of seashells and drift wood picked up along the beach and thought it would make a nice picture. My camera was right beside me so I made the shot.

I am adding it to the "Same as Song Titles" as the title comes from the song "Silhouettes" sang by the Diamonds and later recorded by Herman's Hermits. (An oldie goldie)

Hi Kath, I hope all is well with you. The hanging you made i s really beutifull. You were right, it is a nice picture. Warm and relaxing.

I believe you could find a photo opt in a corn field! You never miss a trick, do you? This is an amazing capture of something that many would have never noticed. Your eagle eye and ever present camera are a big asset. Some travel the world over and never find the neat things that you find in your own back yard! You present this simple shadow as a work of art. Yes I remember the song well and recall it being recorded by one or more country artists later also.

Hi Kat,
Beautiful photo. Fantastic colours. I have gone through your collection here on TL and the photos are simply amazing. You look at our world through a very special viewpoint and you seems to see beauty everywhere.

I like the warm color coming through the bamboo shade. Great shadow of the fern. The black frame really adds.

Merhaba Kathleen... I do like the composition you have created here; especially warm tones and little shields make it perfect... Thank you for sharing...

Took a walk and passed your house late last night
All the shades were pulled and drawn way down tight
From within, the dim light cast two silhouettes on the shade
Oh what a lovely couple they made

Remember it well made no.3 here in 1965 when I was a bairn (child). Great composition reflecting the lyrics perfectly. I'm sure you are not old enough to remember the song Kat :-)

Hi Kat,
Very nice. I like the projection of the shadow on the shade. And the shells on the outside are an accent. Nice!

Pieceful composition, and now for the first time I see how a black frame with a same color line in it can really add to the contrast of the pic.

Do you have specific rules that you follow for the frame?

I lost a number of points in the local club because my pic was just not correctly framed.

Kat, you are absolutely right about the similarities between our two posts from yesterday. And seeing yours I am reminded once again that I do not pay enough attention to the possible importance of frames. A "mood" photo like this gains enormously from a good frame to enhance the mood. There is something very Japanese or Chinese about your photo - and I don't think it's just because of the bamboo shades.

What a lovely silhouette Kat of the fern. The glow from the late evening sun looks so serene as it penetrates through the bamboo blind. Nice work on the seashell craft too.

Hola Kat! This is another 'echantillon' from your creativity. Very nice composition and I love the use of elements of the simplicity of the everyday life:)
