This is my answer to wck's unusual selfportrait challenge.
Ok, I'm not sure if this is unusual or not, but for me it has it's place for unusual. When I saw Were's challenge I already had a few shots in mind and when I went back to check them out again I then realized why I had not used them yet. The focus is wrong on the main one I would of liked to use....the other....ehhh...it was ok. So I replied to Were and told him I would try and get the shot again when back at work. Involves reflection from an computer input device...hmmmm. Anyway, upon wondering what I should upload for today....have another bridge series coming....ahh no no spare us your bridges....ahhhhhhhh. This bridge has it's interest....ooh I'm just full of funny today....ok maybe not.
Where was I........daduh dada daduh da.....duh da duh da duh da duhhhh.....ok maybe not quite the jeopardy theme song :O(
Again back on track to......ahh what to upload.... then out of nowhere I had this idea you see here. My phone cam with an angled self capture and in the background one of the bridge images "Bridge #3 180degress into the Unknown" on my lcd monitor. Not easy to hold these two things and snap this shot. Two compositions going on here the phone placement for my picture and in some composition with the background image.
At first I was going for a smaller image with my images in the background and I finally ended up with this. I really like the screen on my phone unless your trying to take a picture of it...However, I like the kind of degraded image of me that ended up being captured. Just a different side of me and the gradient beings in which we are.
Well, I hope it has some interest for you.
I was kind of torn between the bridge...eh I'll wait, a cloud photo or this weird attempt at photography....
Thanks
~michael~

pp-slight crop of bottom and right side.
Partial Luko's USM and frame/signature.
B/W was kind of cool but I liked the blue in this and the warmth around the Motorola..besides b/w is in the background :O)

Werewolf called his a metaphysical prison. Your's look a bit like a real prison to me. You know those shots they take of the prisoners from all sides with the numbers and names printed on it. It's a great idea and I like your explanation. A bit fuzzy sometimes but I got the idea. I enjoyed reading it. It's a bit funny.

interesting, a bit more light in the other eye? But, yes, (*_*)

Hi Michael,
This is a peculiar portrait. Hmmm... The way the bridge was turned upside down, kind of looks like a funnel now. Like you're trapped in some weird vortex where you're trapped in a cellphone. Kind of like in one of the Superman movies with those bad guys stuck in a box. Good idea.

An eye catching self portrait - Had to open it up and look at it closer. A very techie portrait - and nicely done ... Sam

Hi Michael,
You give us one intense stare there! Nice idea, very good composition... I like the perspective provided by the dwindling lines upper right (whatever they are..!) - Nice job!
Regards,
Pablo -

Eeekh, the Lawnmower Man is back ! This is the association that came immediatelly to mind when I saw this. I don't know why this film made such an impact on me back in 1992 (and I know it had very bad reviews), the idea of those neural networks and the fast learning and the guy in all those networks... I found it amazing. Anyway back to your pic. Very creative, unusual to say the least !

Love it, Michael.

Lol Adams can't think to that... We have an excepption here... You take your portrait with the Canon one, but before you take it with your cell phone... SO it need two camera if we could say! Thats original :o)

Hi Michael,
very interesting concept...
I like a lot the "tilt" of the phone. And that was a bridge?
Looks like a cage or something to me...
Very creative and very well done!

take care, Stef :))
