This monarch butterfly was captured at Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, Florida. These beautiful insects are housed inside a small butterfly house, but I found this one outside. It must have escaped, but was staying close to home nevertheless.

the colors are greta, and the zoom as well..it's hard to take pictures of butterlies, I have tried to take pictures of butterflies but when I get close they just fly away :(

So beautiful. Maybe this one crawled out a small hole as a caterpillar and changed into a chrysalis. Very good macro shot - very clear and sharp. Well done.
