| This is a small footbridge in Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, Florida, on the Gulf Coast. Sunken Gardens is one of the oldest attractions in Florida, around long before Disney. In 1903 a plumber by the name of George Turner, Sr. purchased the six acres that would eventually hold his botanical collection. Using an elaborate maze of clay tiles, he drained an ancient lake on the property, leaving a rich muck soil that was ideal for his favorite hobby – gardening. Neighbors so enjoyed strolling through Turner’s garden, that by the early 1920’s, he was charging a nickel for tours. Three generations of the Turner family continued the vision that created this unique tropical garden, with its flowing ponds and lush plants. It's called Sunken Gardens because the entire 6 acres of gardens sits below street level. The city of St. Petersburg now owns the property and although it may not be as exciting as Disney World or Universal Studios, it does permit a relaxed afternoon stroll and plenty of photo opportunities. |

Hi Bob,
Very nice shot. It sure does look like a nice place to take an afternoon stroll. You've composed the photo very well, shooting at an excellent angle and centring the subject well. The sepia tone gives it a nice historical feel, and ties in well with your informative notes.
Well done!
Claudia
