I do not excel at landscape or architectural photography and avoid it......However, I wanted to share with you where I disappeared to for almost 4 weeks. This is Davis Building, the largest structure on Mayo Clinic Campus in Jacksonville, FL. This is only one of three huge complexes for health study. I chose Davis Building as this is where over 90% of my testing and conferences were held.
There are over 325 specialist doctors and scientists at Mayo in Jacksonville. And I am certain that I saw every one of them!!! They thorouhly diagnose and treat complex medical problems in every specialty.
Test were scheduled begining 7:00 AM and usually ran through the day until 5:00 PM. And most of the medical test are no fun at all!
I am presently waiting for the final reports and diagnosis and treatment from Mayo. I am apprehensive, but hopeful. If anyone can "fix you", Mayo Clinic can........

Tech:
I wanted a photo with some interest, so I chose to try for the reflection in the lake in the park. Only post processing was resizing and sharpening a bit. Framed and only used logo. I am standing a great distance from the building and it was still impossible to get the complete Mayo sign in the composition.

I would appreciate comments from you concerning this photo and ideas on how I could have improved it. I am definitely ameteur status here in this realm!

Thank you and have a grand and glorious weekend....:O)

It's good to see, where you stayed the last weeks and here it is.
The picture is composed in a fine way, indeed with the reflections in the water. I also like the tiny part of the red flowers and also this is "reflected" in the corner on the other side:-)).
Nice shot, something else from you..... amateur:-))

Hello Kathleen!
You did it well. The beautifull reflects on the waters do the right thing.

Well done.

You can find beauty and color anywhere! Somehow I don't think of a hospital as a thing of beauty, but you found it here! I just hope that you found answers and solutions too. You have been to the best, so the rest is in the hands of God. When medicine stops, God takes over. I love reflections and this is a great one! Wish the water had been more still but that is beyond the control of the photographer.

I don't know what to think, Kat. You used a great compo, including the entire reflection of the building... On the other hand, I think the colours are a bit flat, and I think you oversharpened it. The windows near the middle of the shot, for instance, suffer from jaggies. But it is also noticeable in the green on the right...
Anyway, TFS and have a lovely Easter.

Of course you had to show us the clinic, Kat. And I am glad you leave the photography of buildings to others - most of the time. In fact the reflection is a lot more interesting that the overexposed, pale hospital building. And believe me, I appreciate how you picked the color for your signature heart from the only flowers in sight.

This is one of your best, if not, the best.
You did well capturing this site. Excelent composition keeping the reflection. Spot on Focus and exposure.
Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike

Kat, digital so far will not capture whites properly, hopefully the manufacturers will get it right. Whites are always "hot," whether it's a compact or DSLR.

hi kathleen... this is nice.. i mean the photo.. especially the composition and i like the reflection on the water too.. very well done... thanks for sharing the interesting notes too..

Nice work kat, and the reflection is good as well. This might have been hard to do but maybe the angle you chose would have been better higher up in the air say on a hill or something like that. Also maybe a polarizer or skylight filter for the clouds and sky.

Wow Kathleen, 4 weeks in a hospital must have seemed like forever, I spent 10 days one time and thought I'd never get out! I applaud your courage, and still out taking photos, this one is lovely with the reflections in the water. You made this stark building seem more hopeful, as it should. I like the touch of red of the flowers on the right, wish there were more of them. Nice lighting and blue sky. I'm not an expert at architectural photos either, but this one is pleasing to the eye.

You have a very good point of view and composition for the photograph of this building. I can show you how to make the reflections better by enhancing the original. See the WS I did. i hope this makes you feel better.
