Deep in the Palm groves, after midnight in Jacksonville, AL, I discovered the magic that takes place when all humans are asleep.....Having insomnia, I went for a walk in the mystic glow of the moonlight. Wandering deep into the mysterious grove I heard happy chattering and quietly crept closer to see what the commotion was all about. To my wonderment, the animals were gathered for a dance party and some fun. Luckily, I had my camera to take this picture as proof that Raccoons can dance!

As a child I had two pet raccoons that I grew up with. My Daddy found them abandoned when they were just born and we had them for many wonderful years. I have many fond memories of "Ringo and Star" as my constant companions and many funny stories I could tell of their antics. I was quite taken with these raccoons that inhabited the RV park where I stayed while at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting. Always great to see you here and you are always welcome. Smiles and happiness and hugs to you today......:O)

What a wonderful nature capture Kat. You were so lucky to be there with your camera. It is a very unusual shot seeing the raccoons enjoying themselves in the middle of the night. The lighting is great for ao night shot. Very well captured.

"What happens in Jacksonville...stays in Jacksonville" :)

Love the photo. This is a great capture Kathleen. Very good composition and presentation.

Nice one Kat! These litle creatures always make me smile & this shot captures their unique sense of inqisitiveness.

Well done, David.

My goodness, I counted ten of them, and no fights? You got a lucky shot here and composed it nicely. There must have been free food around! The flash filled nice and evenly and the subjects posed for you in an orderly manner. Beautiful shot!

Hi Kat,
Cute. Just don't get too close, they can be vicious! It's neat how they're all looking in one direction. Good capture!
Richard

What an amazing picture! They all stand there as if they were listening to a speech or attend a mass! They have such a lovely expression in their eyes! It is unbelievable! Great piece of art as far as I am concerned! It is unique and beautiful! Bravo,Kat! I just love it! Michel

hahaha =) such a nice photo, i think this is really good photo because animals are really hard to get it into right position. Excellent work, are u not afraid of be alone at that hour, with a lot of noises coming from all around??? =S i hope you're not. Thanx for share this incredible moment.

Taking a walk in the night and meeting these lovely dancing creatures would make my day (night). This is so cute Kat with their pose. Good idea to take your camera everywhere. Raccoons come to my garden pond to take a drink in the night. Once I saw a mother with 3 babies there. I too couldn't sleep (3am) and for a change I was happy. Really a lovely capture, and good use of your flash as the Raccoons are nicely lit up.
