[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The ocean has many moods. Usually it is photographed at sunrise or a sunset for glorious displays.

The storms that can just suddenly appear can instantly transform the tranquil, soothing beauty of the water to turbulent waves that roar and whitecap and silence the birds and cause the tourist to suddenly begin scampering away if in fear for their lives! This always amuses me. I mean, they come to the beaches, get in the water and get soaking wet, but as soon as a shower comes up, they frantically cover their heads, grab up their belongings and run as fast as they can to their cars. What is so terrible about rain falling on you?

My photograph today is right before an angry storm came calling. The wave in front is cresting and one lone seagull heads for home, much like the tourist already have....

The thunder rolls, the waves crash, the black clouds open and the rain falls. I take one last photo and tuck my equipment in the waterproof carrying case.I walk along the shoreline, enjoying the warm rain on my face and the intense exciting thrill of a transformed ocean. It is beautiful....

I love the rain falling on me. The sea looks quite rough. Nice catch getting those crests on the waves. Hope you enjoyed your walk along the beach Kat. Wish I was there too.

Your photo tells as good of a story as your notes do. Seeing the storm approach with the dark clouds is very intriguing. I can even feel the cold wind blowing and the feel of the approaching tempest. A very well done alternative to the typical sun and sand beach shots. Thanks for sharing this view.

Hi Kat,
Nice shot. I love the waves you caught. And, I particualirly like how the waves' shape seems to be echoed in the bright area of the clouds. Nice frame...it goes well with the image.
Take care!
Richard

Aaahhhh! A rain and sea lover just like myself. I totally agree, a stroll on the beach on a rainy is something everyone runs away from even when it is a wonderful experience. A very nice shot Kathleen you've captured the crashing waves and the dark water wonderfully. The lone seagull flying at that tilted angle is really great. Love the light on the horizon too. Very nice frame, text and logo too. Love your work. :O)

The bird is superb. The shot is overall quite grainy and the colours seem almost monochromatic. But all that gives it an oldfashioned charm - like the prints or cuttings from old magazines that out grandparents had hanging on their walls. Like a painting.

Dark and mysterious, a heavy sky above, not the most beautiful weather but you see, also in other weathers good pictures can be made !

Good capture! I agree with you spiel about how tourists run for cover from rain (even though they are already wet)!!! I am a fan of the beach, even though I don't live there (my girlfriend does, though), and I go as often as I can. Most people have no idea what awesome beauty the beach and ocean both have, since after all, the only shot people ever take are sunset or sunrise shots. Thank you so much for saying what I wish I could and showing the world another side of it's beauty. Thanks for sharing a great photograph!

-Kyle
