[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I decided to take the a break from cleaning the mess Katrina left behind. It was such a bright pretty day I decided to go to the lakefront. Lake Ponchartrain is a salt water lake aproximately 25 miles wide; it is loaded with fish, shrimp and crabs and a true sportsman's paradise-except when riled by storm winds. This is the lake that dumped so much water in New Orleans, looking at it in this shot makes that hard to believe.

I processed it using Photofiltre. I dithered with the saturation and contrasts, cropped then framed it.

Hi Fran... I like this one... is that you Johnathan..(Johnathan Livingston Seagull)... Good title!.. I took a shot kinda similar to this one.. which i might post..its a bit further away.. but with birds on a wharf....
I like your framing... I am yet to learn how to frame with two different colours ?.. I have got photoshop 7.. still learning it... not enough hours in the day for me!!!!...
Thanks for sharing.. and I hope your cleaning up is going well after Katrina...and not too much damage was done to your home.
Cheers
Dawn.

Great one again and no grain ;)

Bye friend
Josine

Nice photo, Fran. I'm drawn to it for a couple reasons. First, the composition is very pleasing to the eye - the partially submerged dock dominates the foreground, i.e. the lower third of the frame. You also have some nice lines going on in the photo...the dock jutting out from the right, the planks, and the line formed by the pilings. This line leads the eye up and to the right, through the image seamlessly. You did well to zoom in/crop tightly eliminating any distractions. Good eye!

Oh those poor ducks. They look like they're having a day of rest too Fran. Good composition, and I like the colours too. Well shown. TFS.

great photo nice view the birds keeping a siesta? tfs greets ed-lin

Well seen, Fran. The compo is ok, though I'd like to have seen the pier levelled out. I watched your gallery and notice that your pictures have one thing in common: IMO they're generally oversharpened. Look next to the bolders, you'll see a halo. There's a halo also around the ducks where they have water as background. If you use this as a "signature", that's fine with me. If you don't, try easing up on the sharpening ;o).
Your title is great, so are the colours.
TFS.

The frame and its colors match the photo so well! Very peaceful and relaxing image. I almost hear the ducks' voices and the splashing of water!

I like the photo a lot, Fran. I think that all the birds over there would be deserving of a rest after the hurricane season that you've had. I hope that all of you that were affected by the hurricane are able to get things together soon. All the best from over here.

Good photo Fran. and I like the seagull on the pole.
jaco

fran,
i don't know how i missed this one!
great composition , the lone seagull is anice touch.

A little sunshine for all Creatures great and small. Very good image, I'm sure I seen those ducks fly by this way in Canada too.

Hi Fran,
Very beautiful photo, I like the warmth of the sun light and the diagonals in the composition. This place looks so quiet now. very different I'm sure that what it was.
Very well done.
