[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my second attempt at a macro...and it is for David (Refugee)who asked for it, Lois (lebjohnson) who showed me the way and Gayle who named it.

This is a spotted cucumber beetle (also known as the southern corn rootworm), it is 1/4 inch long, is yellow-green with 12 black spots on its back. Cucumber beetles spend winter in protected areas near buildings, in fence rows, or in wood lots. They become active in mid-spring, when temperatures begin to increase. The adults feed and females deposit eggs in cracks in the soil at the base of pumpkins, squash and cucumbers. The eggs hatch and the larvae feed on the roots. These larvae will pupate in the soil, later in the summer the next generation of beetles will emerge. These beetles will also feed on melon plants.

I picked a good name for this bug, just like a man he is lost...he is munching on the leaves of a Radiation Lantana or what my Mom used to call 'ham and eggs'. I think the name Man Bug is fitting!

Have a great Easter!

Second attempt at a macro is well done.

Ok. Are you ready? Drum roll, please...................... This...is...a...SPOTTED CUCUMBER BEETLE! Is this a cucumber leaf, perchance? Hooray for Google Images! :)

Wonderful macro, Fran! Good job!
Gayle :)

Very Good Macro! The sharpness is perfect, you can count the segments in the tentacles.
I think this is a man bug, he is a sloppy eater and his back is turned. I believe I heard grunts of "good, good leaf food".LOL
Well done image Fran!

Marie-Lise

Hi Fran,
You're learning very fast how to create great macro. This one has superb colors and excellent sharpness. Very well done.
Happy Easter.
Luc

You've got it, you've really got it! Man Bug is another perfect macro shot, a close up view of the world. Spotted cucumber beetle, well, that doesn't really describe him as well. I can hardly wait to see what you will do next.
Regards,
Lois

Hi Fran...
It's wonderful... Wonderful macro shot, my friend... Another incredibles colors, details and clarity...
TFS...
Stay well..
Salim.

Hello Fran, you are good on those macros! Your photos are very sharp. It is so hard to get close enough and have the photos sharp, not to move and not scaring the bugs :)

Very well done. And Happy Easter! Yan :)

Hmmmmmmm I commented on this one yesterday and it seems it did not go up :(. Lovely composition Fran. Just love the light on the leaves and the splash of colour with the bug. Wonderful effect with the blurring in the top right corner. TFS and hugssssss
David
