This one is for my friends Paul (OeilMagique) and Robert (Perryhooter) both big fans of antique cars!

In July 17 of 1912 Dodge Brothers Inc. was formed by John Francis Dodge and his brother Horace Elgin, and begin working on bringing out the Dodge Brothers car. By November 14, the First Dodge Brothers car rolls off the line. When asked why the Dodge Brothers wanted to build their own car, John Dodge replied, "Just think of all the Ford owners who will someday want an automobile." By 1910 the Dodge brothers business had increased enough so that they had to build a new plant in Hamtramck, MI .

On July 31 1928 Walter P. Chrysler purchases Dodge Brothers Inc., manufacturers of Dodge Brothers cars and trucks, and Graham Brothers trucks. Main plants and forge facilities in Hamtramck, MI. Walter P. Chrysler became president of Dodge Brothers. 1935 saw Chrysler set up different divisions. Plymouth Motor Corporation became Plymouth Division, Dodge Brothers Corporation became Dodge Division, DeSoto Motor Corporation became DeSoto Division and Chrysler Motor Corporation became Chrysler Sales Division. That was the beginning of what we now know as the Chrysler Corporation.

This is a 1947 Dodge sedan it belongs to my neighbor down the street. It's the 'FluidDrive' model it has the flathead 6 engine and 3-speed transmission. Dodge All-Fluid Drive provides the entirely fluid transfer of engine power to the drive line of your car. It thus affords a life preserving cushion for all vital mechanical parts of engine and power line, protecting them from shock and strain. For the driver, All-Fluid Drive continues to mean new extremes of comfort, safety, and control. Clutching and shifting have been greatly reduced and, when shifting is required, for special occasions, it is done silently with the move of a finger.

I have encluded a photo of the entire car sitting in front of his home in the workshop. Ain't she sweet!!!

Thanks for the visit !
Fran
PS...I do not have more than 2 legs!!!

A Dodge! I think I'm more interested in the alien in the reflection Fran, a five-legged, two bodied, headless creature!!
I know the guys will go "Ooh" and "Ah" over the hubcap, etc and especially the WS!! Nice looking car too, TFS
Janice

Hi Fran.
Strong photo . Special!
Bye
Josine

Well at least I am younger than this vehicle... just :). Great capture Fran, not too much PP work to detract from the vintage yet colours are crisp and clear. TFS and hugssss,
David

Fran this is a nice shot and I applaud your simplicity with just the wheel section. The only thing I might add is a slightly different angle. It appears you pointed the camera down to shoot this. If you had gotten lower and shot it parallel to the wheel plane I think the image would be slightly more dramatic. Nice job. B

Hi Fran...
Wonderful point of view and ingenious shot, my friend. Also very creative composition... The reflection on the wheel rim is beautiful...
TFS...
Stay well..
Salim.

Hey thanx Fran
You can say "wide" or "white" wall tires in this case. Hub caps were not plastic back then, I guess that is why they lasted nearly 60 years. Excellent POV on this one. TFS

Paul

Beautiful abstract auto portrait also, Lol.

Hi Fran,

TFS..Sky

nice angle Fran, love the WS image too, good comp and colours, thanx, M, (*_*)

oops no more points...

Woo Hoo!

Thank you for this kind tought! What a coincidence! Tonight Martine and me we went downtown. Tomorrow is a National Holiday up here in Quebec! So we went for a drink to enjoy a summer evening. Surprise ! One of my favorite store was opened even late in the evening, as it is the touristic season. The store is only opened a few days a week. The boutique is specialised in Die-Cast models (^_^).

For my coming birthday, Martine offered me one car tonight!
Like a kid I choose one among the hundreds displayed !!!!

Martine, if you visited my gallery before, offered me for Christmas the 1932 Deluxe Tudor the State Limousine of Puyi the last emperor of China.

I was tempted by a Cadillac 1932, and a few others, but I finally opted for a unique and very rare model. I won't spoil the fun tonight. I will get back to you with a post later on that one (*_^). I just want to thank you for your great timing!

Lovely WS. I have indeed a similar one ( 1:24 scale of course!!! )
Cheers!
Robert

Hello Franny
Details can be so usefull, they put the mind to work for those things one thus not see. Great(but a little long) story. TFS ..hug
