[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I first photographed a black swan last week, so when I took my camera out to Lafreniere park once again, I walked for miles searching for it to photograph again. I was well rewarded for the long walk...I stumbled upon his mate and their baby.

I was surprised at how friendly these swans are, they come right up to you looking for a treat. I thought the Mom would be protective of the baby, but she usher it right up to me. Once I ran out of feed they retreated to the water and I capture this shot. I have included a photo of both Mom and Baby in the workshop.

The thing I love about this site beside learning a good deal about taking photographs is the sharing of the knowledge about the subject. I have been informed that the ducklings do grow into a muddy ugly color as they mature before becoming a beautiful adult. Just thought I would share the information as told to me by David (Refugee). Thank you David!

PS...the title of the photo is not a reflection of my thoughts on the beauty of these creatures but a mention of the children's story, The Ugly Duckling. I too think he is a cutie!

Cute little swan. Not ugly, but would be to ducks. Good sharp detail and good ripples in the water. Pity the reflection is not complete. Good thin boarder. I do like this shot. TFS.

Hi Fran, they only become uglier when a wee bit older, that sort of muddy colour before they mature. A lovely image with good colour and superb detail. Wekk composed with the cygnet having some room to swim into. TFS,

I begin her I looked at the theme and I saw the picture, and I thought is not here wrong something, but after reading his text I understood, he is a grace, beautiful and soft. I adore the ring that the water does in turn of him, they seem arches. The color and sharp it is wonderful.

Being the nature photographer that I am, I really like this shot. You did well on the composition with the placement within the frame. The exposure is very good. White plumage is always difficult, but you have good colors and detail there.
