This was most liklely an early version of a railroad maintenance vehicle, cow catcher and all. One of the many interesting displays at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum.
Thanks for viewing and have a good day. |

Hi Werner!
My house backs up to a railroad track. Often, I'll see a maintenance truck parked on the track, but it looks a little different than this one. :) Surely they had trucks back then. This looks like a car driven in the Godfather movie... one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing this! I would have never guessed that this is what they would have used.

A nice simple conversion of a saloon car to a railway vehicle - you'd have to wonder if the car would have enough weight for its wheels to get decent traction!
Considering the fact you had to shoot against the light to get this, it's a well exposed, sharp, well composed shot.
Although - personally - I'd be tempted to crop more from the top, there's some space above the car's roof that doesn't contribute to the image - and maybe shoot from further back (if possible) with more zoom and a wider aperture, so that the more distant background was slightly blurred?

Coming from the uk Ive always been intrigued to see motor vehicles running on railway tracks I find this shot quite interesting therefore My only comment (not criticism) is that if you have used a larger aperture you may have thrown some of the uninteresting background out of focus. TFS warm regards

Hi Werner
This is very unusual. It looks like a hybrid cross between a 1930's car, & a train. Good sharpness, & I like the wide angled pov. Tfs!
