Hi TL friends!

As I was looking through some of my photos taken in Ocean City, Maryland, I stopped at a photo which got my attention in an unusual way and wanted to share it with you.
My attention was at first focussed on the two sea gulls resting peacefully on the two wooden posts (used probably for tying the boats while left on the waters).
Right after I took the photo I noticed that the horizon was not perfectly horizontal in my photo, but the first wooden post (on the left) was (90 degrees) vertical in real life - that excluded the possibility of camera tilt.
Later, I loaded the photo on the computer, scaled it to 800 per 600 and cropped it to 800 per 424. After measuring the ocean level at point 0 pixel (left) and at point 800 (right) pixel I obtained a difference of 26 pixels. With the help of the Pythagorean Theorem I calculated the right triangle's hypotenuse in pixels (having the sides 800 & 26 pixels) and then got the tilting angle from point 0 pixel (left) to 800 pixel (right) as being of 1.86 degrees. Gush, I've never though I'd live to use this type of math for a simple photo analysis :) all this just to realize that the tilted horizon was the ocean's tide - which a couple of hours later became obvious as the water level increased by the shore and covered the rocks you see in this photo by the first wooden post. By the way, you're looking in the NE direction.
If you have further comments and/or any suggestions/corrections please share them.

Fantastic color and detail on this shot. I really enjoy the sheen on the wet sand. TFS
