While riding on the coast road-highway 90- in Biloxi Mississippi I glanced out of my window and saw this guy riding on the antenna of the car next to me...what else am I going to do? Take a photo of course!!!

Forrest Mars, Sr.'s inspiration for M&M's was a lentil-shaped, candy-coated chocolate that he saw soldiers eating while on a visit behind the lines during the Spanish Civil War. The chocolate pellets that the soldiers were eating were coated in sugar to prevent chocolate from sticking to their fingers. Forrest Mars was traveling with a member of the Rowntree family, "...and Rowntree went on to make Smarties, a candy similar to M&M's." After the rights were purchased by Forrest Mars Sr. and R. Bruce Murrie in 1939, they had to re-introduce them to the domestic market with a different name because there was already a candy product sold in the U.S. under the name Smarties. To identify their new brand, they combined the first initials of their last names: M & M.

M&M's were first sold in the United States in 1941. By the time the U.S. entered World War II, American soldiers were given the candy by the United States Army because they were a convenient snack that traveled well in any climate; soon after this it was marketed to the public. M&M's soon became a hit because, in those times when air conditioning was not usually found in stores, homes, or the automobile, melting chocolate candy bars were a problem; but with M&M's, the candy coating kept the chocolate from getting messy. The candies were originally manufactured in six colors: red, orange, yellow, green, brown, and violet.

"What's wrong with M&Ms?"
"They're too hard to peel!"

Hi Fran I like the new signature - much better than FranK.
They say that "There's an M&M in everyone!" Bit scary, especially sitting on a stick like that.
Very eye-catching though - well presented my friend,
Janice

Ouch! :). Well spotted Fran and well captured from your vehicle. Good colour and a lovely blurred background. I must agree with Janice the new signature is tops. TFS,
David

Merhaba Fran, my friend...
It's very cute composition, indeed... The light and the sharpness are perfect... The brilliant yellow, the point of view and the DOF are also perfect...
TFS...
Stay well..
