Today is David's (Refugee) birthday, I tried to take a photo of a birthday cake with enough candles because it kept setting off my smoke alarm! So I did find one where the palm trees reminded me of candles...much safer too!!! (^-^)

A GREAT BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND!!!

The first permanent settlement in French Louisiana was founded at Biloxi, (pronounced Bo-lux-ee), in 1699, under the direction of Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, with Louisiana separated from Spanish Florida at the Perdido River near Pensacola (founded 1559 & again 1698). In 1720, the capital of French Louisiana was moved to Biloxi from Mobile, which was the first capital of Louisiana, from 1702.

Due to fears of tides and hurricanes, the capital of French Louisiana was later moved by colonial governor Bienville, in 1723, from Biloxi to a new inland harbor town named Nouvelle-Orléans (New Orleans), built for the purpose in 1718-1720.
The beachfront of Biloxi lies directly on the Mississippi Sound, with barrier islands between it and the Gulf of Mexico.

Keesler Air Force Base lies within the city and is home to the 81st Training Wing of the U.S. Air Force.

In 1763, France had to cede French Louisiana east of the Mississippi River, except for New Orleans, to Great Britain. At that same time, the king Louis XV of France sold Louisiana west of the Mississippi, including New Orleans, to Spain.

Hi Fran,
A unique birthday wish for our friend. I assume the three large candles represent decades, and the smaller ones . . . oh, well, we might have to count the buoy too.
Love the colors, sharpness, and the breeze--I'm ready for the beach!
All the best,
Karen

Ten, Twenty, Thirty, Forty, Fifty, shall I keep counting..haha..

Happy Birthday David, hope you have a great day, and many more to come.

Hi Fran, excellent post for a birthday wish, of the palm trees, good sharpness, and composition..

Cheers and best wishes to you both
Dawn

Hi Fran,

It will be the best ever birthday candles if you fire those trees . . You have a great talent to observe and well chosen things for celebration. Great shot and nice scenery too.

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Hi Fran,

Great shot. Great application on the rule of thirds and composition.

Cheers

Why thank you ma'am but it was the 2nd :). Don't say too much about candles or I will let slip that you are 2 months older than me and then state the age also.

I love the stumby palm trees and the image has been well composed. Good colour and perfect detail. TFS,
David (who is younger than you)

Merhaba Fran, my friend...
Wow... It's a perfect birthday gift, indeed... The point of view and the composition are very creative... Wonderful light and colors too...
TFS...
Stay well..
Salim.

Now, 3 tall palms, and 3 small palms.

Does this mean David is 30, 36 or 60 - surely NOT 90??? NO, if he's a few months younger than you Fran, it must mean he's 36, same age as me!!

Don't we wish!

I think the trees look so false planted there in the sand, b ut hopefully they'll stop chopping and trimming them and let them grow naturally!

Cheers, and happy birthday David

Janice

Sorry I chickened out on the idea of making a big racket on his birthday Fran, I did send him an email though so didnt ignore our other, better not call him old as I do have a year headstart on you both. Ah well I will let you know what the age is like next year so you will have time to get used to the idea, also to book the fire department to keep watch on the candles.
Diane

Hahahaha, Fran, I love your note with the smoke-alarm. Just lovely.
Also the explenation for the shot is cute.
I like it so much - and I also like to say:
Happy Birthday David - enjoy the day, all the best for you!!!
Bye and greetings to you both

Bonjour Fran ¤
What a lovely cake for David's birthday, candles are well set in place. Icing is perfect for I assume a chocolate cake. I could see already 2 persons ready to dig in. My guess is perhaps 1 candle for every 40 years times 3= 120 years old..........Happy birthday David!!

Paul
