[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
When conditions are really good and everything's just right, this camera takes the sharpest and best pictures I've ever seen!

I had to 'sneak' into a roadside garden that wasn't visible from where their house sat and even then the dog barked. I couldna find any of these along the Blue Ridge Parkway this year to photograph as they do too much damage with their 'mowing' anymore. The people the State hires are NOT gardeners, they're just a bunch of weedeater and mechanical mower specialists and very destructive of the way they take care of the biosphere, obliterating very fragile species and kinds.

These are Turk's Caps and grow in the higher mountains if you can still find them. They are a kind of lily and are very beautiful. I kept trying different positions here and I'll show another one later where I almost got down on the ground to shoot 'up' because these turn and 'face' the ground when they are mature. They have one of the prettiest shades of color you'll see in the species.

Hi Gary,

I think that we love the same kind of flowers macro pictures.
That one is very neat, with the focus on the right spot.
Nice composition.
I went to Blue ridge parkway on a motorcycle trip a few years ago and it is good to read about it here. And you surely don't know, but there is a wonderfull wood sailboat here name "Slocum" with witch you whould be proud to share your name with.

Very good macro !

Have a nice evening,

Ivan

Hi Gary,
I think most of all will like itself kind of flowers .Nice sharpness and colours!
regards,valentina

Hi Cary,
What a beautiful flower. The sharpness and colors are perfect and the lighting is nice and soft. A few things, shouldn't you rotate this photo close to 90 degrees to the left? It feels a vertical position is better looking at the BG. Try an even lager aperture to have a perfect blurred BG.
TFS,
Niek

In Which mode did you shoot this? The best is the AV mode and none of the pre-programmed modes.

Now I know how to recognize a flower called Turk's Caps. To me the color is similiar to a Day Lilly but the bloom is shaped quite differently. To me this is not your best composition Gary but some shots (on some days) are just difficult. Sort of like people. LOL The flower is sharply focused and very colorful as well. Thanks for sharing this one. :)

Linda

Bonsoir gary

Hi Gary!
A very sharp shot of this cute beauty flower! I think that lighting is most important of taking crisp photos - but what light - that is the question: sometimes it's good to have diffuse, others - sharp light... You've chosen the optimum...
