[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Went to Duke Gardens last year and saw a great blue heron hanging out at the pond. Being patient was the only thing that allowed me to catch my best shot of that year. After a few people stopped to feed the ducks and geese, this heron flew over to where I was sitting.

After slowly waiting for the bread to bring in some of the fish, he walked by me (3 feet away!) and struck down into the water and pulled up this catfish.

It was an awesome event to watch, especially being so close to the action.

As far as PP, I cropped the image a bit on the right side and adjusted the hues/saturation. I also had a 2x zoom lens by Optica attached to my camera at the time of the shot. I chose a slower shutter speed because it was overcast that morning.

Hi Jaime,
This is a wonderful action catch, very close. I like this POV! My only nit is that I think it is a little soft on focus. Did you sharpened it? I'll try do to something and if I succed I'll post it... Best regards,
Claudine

Très belle photo Jaime!
La netteté, les couleurs et la composition sont très belles. Le héron, avec la grande courbe de son cou, est très bien mis en évidence.
Une belle performance!
Michel.

great capture man! you are lucky!congratulations!

Great patience and awareness of the heron's approach to catching food has paid off with a really good shot. I agree with Claudine that the focus is a little out, but its nothing a little extra PP work couldn't improve. My only other comment would be that decreasing picture size and adding a dark border would help fool the eye a little with regards to the focus.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Wow! This is a splendid photo.

That morning was better for photographer then for swimming !

Good catch of a nature fact.

Ivan

Great capture Jaime (no pun intended). This is not a photo one comes across every day.

This is really super
The sharpness is not complete but good for this action photo
RuudBlok

Hi Jaime
A glaring eye expressing excitement after a fine catch!!
Motion blur is ok in such an action shot.
I like the thight cropping on out of focus background.
I would have try to get rid of grainy effect with the free version of Neatimage, available online.
Take care.
Robert
