[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Last Fall I was visiting some friends in Durham, North Carolina. One morning we took a hike along the Eno River. I had just gotten my 300mm zoom at that time so I was excited to take it along and test it out.

Being the first time I tried to capture wildlife of any kind, it was an eye opening experience. Certainly not easy!

I greatly admire all the wonderful wildlife, bird and animal photographers on this site! I hope to have a chance to try again once the weather clears.

This was one of my favorite shots mainly because it seems to convey the peaceful feeling of being there.

The Eno River, named for the Eno Indians who once lived along its banks, is the initial tributary of the Neuse River in North Carolina, USA.

The Eno rises in Orange County. The river's watershed occupies most of Orange and Durham counties. The Eno converges with the Flat and Little Rivers to form the Neuse River at Falls Lake, which straddles Durham and Wake counties.

It takes a lot of patience which I still have not aquired to photograph a bird and you caught 4 of them so I consider this a real feat. Bravo well done
Dot

Hi Vincent,
Wonderful picture of these geese, the 300mm works fine! The reflection makes is an outstanding image. The black frame makes it an excellent posting.

You are so right about the difficulty of trying to capture wildlife. It takes a lot of patience, a willingness to get cold and wet, and a long lens to boot. Take a peek into the TrekNature gallery some time to see the work of real madmen/women! :D
Great moody capture. The reflections really add to this

This has a pleasant natural look to it. I like the sense of motion captured in the one-foot-up pose of the center goose. Good DOF and reflections. Nice catch:)

hi vincent, good dof, and composition, the clarity is good too, i agree with you-wildlife shooting is certainly a challenge (need lots of patience!)and this image has a peaceful feel which i like,

Hi Vincent,

I love the detail of this shot together with the reflection of the birds. Your low or probably very near to earth/dirt POV makes this one a winner iso what could have easily been just another duck photo...
Framing is perfect.

Best regards,

Edwin

wack wack.... Very nice shot Vincent! I love how they stand on one leg! HA!...nice details, VERY sharp!

Hi Vincent

Nice work with zoom. Well framed and well captured. I especially like 2nd bird on the left as it looks like it's striking a pose (with its leg up). I noticed a slight blue cast throughout the picture and thought I could warm it up a bit in a workshop.

PS - When does the next album come out?

Mike

Vincent,
Kind of funny - I had looked at your geese image and was very impressed and decided to try to improve one of the ones I took yesterday and submit it - and your responded...
I really like your image. The DOF makes the geese really pop from the background. Exposure and lighting is perfect and low camera angle makes this a stellar image.

Rick

Hi Vincent,

Great reflections and nice and clear on the main subjects. I really like the frame you have used for this as well.

Cheers
Tom

beautful image Vincent, you captured the ducks well with superb sharpness and composition. the reflections added punch on the image.

Well done, Vincent. Clear, crisp reflections, good point of view. Excellent use of crop and frame to help establish the proper focal area for this composition. (In some ways, your shot calls to mind a group of sandhill cranes I saw this past summer, A Four-Part Sandhill Harmony.)

An excellent first attempt, Vincent. Watch out, shooting wildlife can get in your blood. If it does, check out Trek Nature, too. It’s not all botanists and scientist types that hang out there; there are a lot of us whose professions are elsewhere but who love the great outdoors.

In addition to the good work on the image, you've provided an informative note, too. Thanks for sharing.

Jim

Hi Vincent
That's a very good shot of those Canada Geese. The image is sharp, the colors natural and the palce look so calm. You have a very strategic pointy of view and the depth of field is perfect. Welcom into the group of wildlife photographers, it's lots of fun an lots of frustrations too but...
Thanks for sharing

Hello Vincent,
Very beautiful birds, and river. Very good shot. Sharpness picture. TFS.
Regards Zsú

Really beautiful reflections and colors.. I like the green tones. They make a very calm mood.
I think the shot could use just a tad bit of contrast though..other than that, it is razor sharp.
Looks great!
