Repetitive Val Saint Lambert Subject

Not only is the pattern in this Val Saint Lambert crystal repetitive, but even the idea is repetitive- it’s a repeat of an idea from Marleen Hallaert (maleentjeh). And now for my repetitive note:
Marleen wrote: "A typical Belgian thing as this was made by Val-Saint-Lambert." I wrote: "I’ll have to find the Val St Lambert vase we were given as a gift years ago. Can I cheat like that?" Marleen wrote back: "This is usually what happens with the crystal for Val St Lambert. One receives it as a gift, it is ugly but expensive and it gets 'stored' somewhere... I'd be very interested to see how you photograph it !! So yes, go ahead and show us!" So I wrote: "Now that my wife has found the piece (and boy is it ugly- see attached photo), I have to decide if I can make "art" out of it. I don't think I'm up to the task, but maybe I'll become inspired and do something." And Marleen responded: "Haha, yep they are SOOOOOOOOOOO ugly, I'm sure it is the genuine thing ! Of course you can make art of it. Don't look at the vase as a whole, but e.g crop a piece of those ugly colored 'cuts', and turn it over and start playing. I am sure you will turn it into a masterpiece ;-)"

So, if anybody can be more repetitive than this, I really pity them! :-)

Randy

How I created my “masterpiece:” I merely held the vase up to the sun (much easier in Raleigh, NC than Belgium) and photographed the interior. I then cropped the photo and ran the "craquelure" filter in Photoshop Elements. Framed with PhotoFiltre. I’ll post the original ugly vase in the Workshop.

Thanks to Marleen for challenging me. It was fun. Now I'm going to go for a walk and enjoy the sunny day. Something poor Marleen can't do. :o)

You see ? You can do it ! ;-)

enjoy your walk ! I've been working on the single light source challenge for the scav. hunt with a blinking led, the only thing I've managed to do is to get a headache !

Thanks for the great laugh !
