This is a Golden Ram. In the tank there were about 6 swimming around and luckily this one came to visit me at the glass.
Rams are popular aquarium fish because of their amazing color- iridescent yellow-gold with neon blue in the right lighting.
They have the personality of larger aggressive cichlids but Rams are mostly bluff. A ram showing off his colours is simply breathtaking. Their small size and docile personality make them ideal fish for a small tank.
Rams can go by a variety of names in the aquarium trade. In addition to the blue or gold ram, it is known as Ramirez' cichlids and the butterfly cichlid.
There is also a gold version of the ram which is what is in the photo with little blue on them.
rams grow up to 3 inches but emales are smaller than males and rarely exceed 2 inches.
I learned that Rams do not stay still very long :) |

Good job on this Shelby!! Really nice work, even though shooting through glass is not easy! He GLOWS! Is this one of Patricks babies? Nice shot, as always

Hi Shelby,
Long time no see....busy with your friend or what? :-)
Anyway a fine sharp and colourful image of this Golden Ram fish. Taking pictures through glass isn't easy and you managed it very well! Maybe decreasing the brightness and increasing (slightly)the contrast would improve the picture. Well still a fine posting Shelby!

Hi Shelbee, it isn't easy taking photos of fish behind the glass... and you've managed quite well here.
I like how his colours are glowing and considering how fast they move, he looks good

Hi Shelby,
You shot this through glass!! I was hoping you would be snorkeling somewhere with a water proof camera. Just goes to show that I don't know which fish are for tanks. :)
This is really a great, clear, shot of the fish. The colors are brilliant, the background blues and greens are calming.
Thanks for sharing... This photo's "a keeper"! Lisa
