---us, not the boat. Traveling with friends Skip (skip108) and Sandra Ivins, my family and I were supposed to have set sail on the Norwegian Majesty for the western Caribbean, but the ship didn't make it to port on time, so we were left to see the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina. Not to worry, the ship was delayed for a medical rescue at sea, and we later heard that the ship's delay saved a man's life. We set sail on the Majesty with a change in itinerary the next day. This being my family's first cruise, it did not matter to us where we sailed.

This shot was taken on base at the U.S. Coast Guard facility in Charleston, and Skip was encouraging me to experiment with shutter speeds. I normally shoot "two stops under", but he was right--three stops under made the colors in the sky "pop" (ISO 400).

PP work--just cropped and cloned out a spot in the sky (still haven't cleaned the camera). Framed, sized and sharpened.

Very, very beautiful!!! A great and colourful sky and beautiful silhouets!!
Great composition!

Janneke

Lovely sky. I like that you have included enough sky so that we get some cool cyan to offset the hotter oranges, yellows and reds. It works well.

Czesc,

Lovely capture! Beautiful sky and composition. Well done & TFS :]

Greetings from Poland

The golden colors of the sky and blues in the water and clouds really work well together in this photo. The silhouette of the boat and bridge make the composition very strong. Great shot!

Karen it is ok, sky even very nice, but the dark parts could have been done a little better,
I would have gone for ISO 800 and a lower aparture 8 -max 12
Idea is welldone. Good to know your trip was nice.
Bye
Rob

Good to see you back on Karen, on a ship from the same company I had the WWW>NCL>COM line Hope you had a great time!
A good way of telling us it was not you that had to be saved.
Little side nore, shot is very nice but Rob is right, on shots like this I always work with ISO 800 and even 1600.
A lot may say: GODD greef NOOO.. toooo much noise , but in result its often fine, Do I like this? IOh yes very much so!
Bye and welcome back Sailor

Hi Karen,
A very attractive image. Not the "standard" sunset, but one with nice details like the bridge in the distance, the ship in the FG. All well balanced with superb warm colours.
Great posting my dear!

Hi Karen,
Madame... what a fantastic sunset shot! Great colors of the clouds and silhouettes in the foreground. I feel myself there... When we were on Lake Balaton in September, we (I mean all my family) loved to walk to the port at evening, it was so beautiful...
Perfect composition, tasteful frame. Bravo.
Tfs, regards, László
