This hard-working and incendiary harmonica player is Billy Gibson, a local Memphis bluesman. He was scheduled to play with his own band at the Beale St. Music Festival, but ended up playing on the same stage as Hubert Sumlin and a song with Elvis Costello when he joined this performance.

Billy is a smokin' hot harp player. He played a song or three before Hubert Sumlin came on stage. Many of the "real deal" blues guys do this - they let their band sort of warm up the crowd before they come out. There were a few really decent acts before this one, so there was very little warm-up required.

Billy has a passion for the blues - he's the sort of act I look for when I go to blues festivals - groups and performers I've never seen or heard of that just light up the stage. This festival had a bunch of them, I think that was one of the best parts of it. Not only did they have big name acts on big stages, they had local acts on smaller and more intimate stages. Sometimes they mixed, too, which made it exciting.

I hope you enjoy today's Blues and have a great week!

Hello Reed,
I can almost hear the music. Is the blue cast intended? TFS.

Awesome! You and I are into music today! This is super nice Reed! Excellent exposure, considering he is moving! You caught him sharp as ever here, nice color in the BG too!

Another really good one Reed. Love the overall blue glow from the spotlights. The harp player is really nice and sharp, and you've really captured the intensity and feeling of his playing. I hope I can get some shots half as good at the festival in Calgary this summer.
Have a good week

Swell shot Reed - good focus and composition again... I guess the blue tones suit the blue tones if you know what I mean :)..

Very nice low light work here..

Cheers
David

Hi Reed,
It is a very good shot. It speaks for itself. Nice colors, brightness and sharpness. I like the emotion that can be read, felt.
Nice job. Good shot.

Hey Reed

Nice capture at such a low shutter speed. How poetic.....The blue hue on stage to go with the Blues performance. Nicely Done.

Jimmy
