this is just a picture of a rose, which i altered with a program on my comp called "the gimp". i really don't know much, there are so many options that i get lost.

Hello Shaun, I think your rose is intresting, but your composition failed a bit. You also could rotate it, not to have a sad unplanned flower on a massive black territory. The effect you used unfortunately killed the photographic attributes of your image. When you use a program, first imagine what you would like to creat, and then choose the best option/s to realise that. But you are right to learn which option does what is the best to experiment. So, its a great advanture, go on! And welcome on TL!
