[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good morning!
The past three days I have been on a photography whirlwind, Austin to New Orleans following Marc Broussard in Concert. We had back stage passes for both Austin and New Orleans. He performed at The Parish in Austin, Texas on Nov 5, 2009 and at One Eye'd Jacks down in the French Quarter in New Orleans on Nov 7, 2009.
The photographic challenge was the nightmarish low light conditions combined with the RED and BLUE lights they use to shine on the artists. It plays havoc with details. So I converted most shots to BW.
Hope you all have a great day!
Linda

Hi Linda,

Splendid achievement. A beautiful and interesting composition, congratulations. I know how difficult it is to get such a picture in The latter light conditions.
Have a beautiful week,
Adrian

wow Linda... this is what I call a groovy photo! it reminded me of a cover photo for an old record album... something with soul in it... great composition and framing! love the position of the name The Parish... well done.. TFS

If this is the kind of results you got, it was a smashing success! MAD good detail, great tones, excellent exposure. I love how your main subject is so well lit with the bit of movement blur adding dynamism and the composition is outstanding. That is a great shot! Man. :)) I am just bowled over. Many thanks and warmest regards,
Shelly

Hi Linda,
that's a beautiful action-shot, I like that moment. I realy have to search for a song of Marc Broussard. Sorry, I don't know his work so far. Thanks and greetings

Hi Linda:)
You are right! - light condition like nightmare!!!
I like dynamism on it by movements of his arms - brilliant picture in its central part, drummer is also the great moment for BG aha and the stool on left... now I have to be honest what I really think about entire composition...
Well - somebody on the right in BG... just annoying and now on the left this damn table with ugly plastic bottles and towel.... just disaster details for that good intentioned image.
Now you can kick my butt :):):)
Cheers - Tom:)
P.S. I did WS for you and hope that you'll like it:)

ok, ok, I admit, I read some of the critiques. I must say that I do not agree with Tomek's remark about the stool and the plastic bottles. I actually like them. I'm glad you included the sign of the club in the photo too. Also, it's interesting that he is looking to the right, yet you have captured him on the right of the frame instead of looking from the left side of the frame.... (HUH?....a lot of people would have wanted him to be on the left side looking into the composition). I like it just the way it is. The blurry hands, the drummer, the dude that seems to be "chillin" on the right. Black and white really gives this an old feel (if it weren't for those PLASTIC bottles!!!hahaha)

Great shot Linda. Can't wait to see more. :) Lisa

Heya Linda,
Did you miss me??? :)

I'm back and ready to see more of your pictures! I mean artwork.. haha
I LOVE the black and white, as well as the pose that you captured here. Wonderful, and very alive. Excellent detail and lighting.
See you around!
Leanne
