Actually, those Americans need to travel more. This is commonplace in the Hong Kong subway. And they're twice as long! "The Central-Mid-levels escalator in Hong Kong is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. The system is 800 meters long, connecting Des Voeux Road Central, in Central with Conduit Road in the Mid-levels, passing through narrow streets in Soho, Hong Kong.

The escalator runs downhill from 6 am to 10 am and uphill from 10:30 am to midnight everyday. Apart from its significance in transport linkage, it is also a tourist attraction, with many restaurants, bars, and shops lining its route." Source:

I lke the mix of the graphic lines and the lighting. It creates a good mood, I think without the light the picture would feel cold. Very nice composition,.

Deadly perspective Pierre. Any Hitchcockian director with a futuristic perspective would love to have a choice of shot like this. Great liquid feel of steel.

J'aime bien ce point de vue avec la perspective qu'il créé. J'aime bien l'éclairage ainsi que les lignes qui forment cette composition. L'ajout de cette personne dans l'escalier donne de la vie. Très bien réussi.

Excellent study Pierre! Composition and perspective is great and including one person was the right choice to show us that biiiiig escalator's size. Light was managed well, I like all those reflections around, congratulations!

Can't find a thing to complain about, except maybe the white in the lower left corner. I know, that's a stretch, but I want to help! :)

“Keep walking, keep walking, keep walking ….”

That is about the only thing – a surreal voice from airport loudspeakers – that is missing on this one. The feel of clinical sterility is striking through lines and neutral colors. Inclusion of man is a [human] exception to the rule [of cold shapes]. Excellent.

Well.. believe it or not when I first look at the thumbnail, I thought I was looking at a 4 lanes highway that suddenly broken, sily me.

You have a good photo composition on here. Strange but how come there is not much pedestrian traffic? I think the escalator in Moscow that leads to their subway is longer and steeper. So, those from Texas better check it out.

Everytime this thumb passes in my lists and everytime it keeps attracting. These lines, direction, the emptiness and the man; all together such an impressive (although normal and daily) scene. Very good angle; the wall-lines show us the real angle of climbing.
