[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was driving by a train museum the other day. I saw the wheels and gears under the train, and I had to stop and take a picture. There is something about gears and machinery that really fascinates me. I would love to take more pictures like this one.

PP:
Gradient map overlay
Diffused Glow (very little glow, like 1 - no grain and very clear)
Horizontal grain (my favorite)

The image shares the title of a really cool film called Metropolis...

Metropolis is a very early science fiction film that was produced in Germany during the brief years of the Weimar Republic. It is set in a futuristic urban dystopia. Released in 1927, it is a black and white silent film created by the famed Austrian director Fritz Lang and was the most expensive silent film of that time, costing approximately 7 million Marks (equivalent to around $200 million today) [1].
The screenplay was written in 1924 by Lang and his wife, Thea von Harbou, and novelized in 1926 by von Harbou.

Wheels of trains, especially the antique ones, are always fascinating and photogenic, like this one, a good example. Textures and details, very nice, well seen, Amy !

In my opinion I don't find here the Metropolis mood but the one of ancient and nice times.....
at the end the important is to find a picture interesting and I like this

Another big movie "modern times" of Charlie Chaplin make me think of this industrial photography …

Oh man! Last night I was re-reading an article I had saved about Metropolis! I do sooo want to see this movie. I'll put it in my queue at Netflix. As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I knew your title was no coincidence. Very well done.

Great treatment on a very nice starting picture, Amy. I like these pictures that only show details instead of showing the entire object. So I like your composition and the texture you got here. Excellent!

P.S. Saw your response saying that you were having fun making a business of taking pictures of kids. I am certain you will do well as you seem so passionate about it and you have the creative vision to do something different than the regular kid photographers. Good luck and continue to smile & have fun!

Very nice PP work to bring out the dirty side of your subject. Creates a very nice impression. Now, maybe it's only me, but I'm not too sure about the square format. I would probably have chosen a rectangular format to 1) create a less centered composition and 2) give a sense of movement. Hard to tell for sure without knowing the whole context, though. Still, a very strong image!

So nice shot, details are well seen. Your PP work perfectly matches with it. And very creative title. I like it a lot.

Great PP work, Amy! The word "burnished" comes to mind. Love the details of the screws. Lots of geometry in this shot - parallel lines, hexagons, circles....
