[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Rocky, one of the drovers of the Fort Worth(TX) Herd...they drive the longhorns through the streets of the historic Stockyards area.

This image was rendered using a 3-exposure blending and tone-mapping in HDR (High Dynamic Range).

This shot was difficult as it was completely 'spur of the moment'. The glare comes from a large, open barn door in mid-afternoon Texas sun.

The lighting is superb, and the use of 3-exposure blending and tone-mapping in HDR has accentuated Rocky's features.

Very interesting portrait. Rich colors. The white is blown-out a little and you lose texture. However, I realize that contrasts are not always easy to even out.

A little too much space on the right. I would crop out some. To know how much to crop, move the photo to the right edge to see the effect. you will see that by cutting a bit of space on the right, the character pops out of the photo even more.

The lighting really makes this photo leap out; the sharpness is superb. Teracotta colours and the tones of clothing and skin are excellent too! Do the cropped fingers and the wristwatch detract from the photo? Not to me - this is an all out 10/10 portrait in my view. Congratulations.

Unusual or harsh light in a portrait can create wonders. In this case, his face simply glows. Very nice shot, David!

David this is an excellent shot, you could even get away with a tight crop on just his face to avoid the foreground light. Well done, B

I like a tightly composed portrait, but think that veruy often, in a 'posed' one, the hands play as vital a role as the eyes, so, for me then, it's ALL OR NOTHING, that bothers me in this, plus, a LOT of reflection in the one eye.
You say spur of the moment, but you took 3exposures, I know how they work...
But, some nice tones in the face and I love his kind expression, welcome and thanx, M, (*_*)

Great work. Bravo
