[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was driving around Fort Worth and found this wonderful old barn and I thought it would be great for the window theme. This is for my friend Karen Dareco who has a whole host of old barns in her gallery, she has almost filled up my abandoned houses and barns theme! So this is for her. I'm trying to convince her to tear these old things down and send me the wood! I've got things to build!

Hi Linda

My 'window' of opportunity to eat tonight closes in 15 mins, so just a quick critique from me. A nice red vs cyan color contrast, good sharpness, with a well placed window in the frame. Tfs!

Hello Linda
The wood here looks amazing... Perfect placement of your broken window! Oh the things you could build...

Tricia

Hi Linda,
I am amazed at the colors and awesome details of texture here, giving the 'ordinary' window of a barn a very strong reason to be photographed. Very nice shot, Linda.

Regards,
Ramdan.

Hi Linda,
The wood grain's texture along with spaterring of a few orange provide for a good contrast. Well framed and quite appropriate for the Friday's theme. Have a good w/e. Danilo

Hi Linda,
The good saturation of colors makes this image so artistic!
Nice textures and contrasts! I particularly like the deep blue on three glasses and the light halo which suround them.

Hello Linda,

You don't want to tear them down when they make such beautiful shots!
I just love the textures and that hint of orange is just enough colour to brighten it up.
Great composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Linda,

Well seen and captured, I love the colours in the weathered wood.
And your off centre little window works well taking you across to the old Iron handle.

Douglas

Hello Linda,a good composition with the lovely colours of old wood.I like the blue tint of the windows and the black hole where the glass is missing. The vertical lines are very appealing to me.

Hi Linda,

Love the textures in the timbers Linda which came up nicely with whatever PP you did. The windows are nicely situated and the whole image has good, rich colour.

Hi Linda,
Love the berautiful weather beaten textures to this wonderful old barn wall. These old barns always seem to have one window pane damaged of missing. The gold tones above the window are very rich and we see a bit of contrast with the fairly new door hinge.
Regards, Tom
P.S. A little ditty about old barns and other old things.

A stranger came by the other day with an offer that set me to thinking. He wanted to buy the old barn that sits out by the highway. I told him right off that he was crazy. He was a city type. You could tell by his clothes, his car, his hands, and the way he talked.

He said he was driving by and saw that beautiful barn sitting out in the tall grass and wanted to know if it was for sale. I told him he had a funny idea of beauty. Sure, it was a handsome building in its day. But then, there's been a lot of winters pass with their snow and ice and howling wind. The summer sun's beat down on that ole' barn till all the paint's gone, and the wood has turned silver gray. Now the old building leans a good deal, looking kind of tired. Yet, that fellow called it beautiful.

That set me to thinking. I walked out to the field and just stood there, gazing at that old barn. The stranger said he planned to use the lumber to line the walls of his den in a new country home he's building down the road. He said you couldn't get paint that beautiful. Only years of standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun...only that can produce beautiful barn wood.

It came to me then. We're a lot like that, you and I. Only it's on the inside that the beauty grows with us. Sure, we turn silver gray, too... and lean a bit more than we did when we were young and full of sap. But the Good Lord knows what He's doing. And as the years pass He's busy using the hard wealth of our lives, the dry spells and the stormy seasons, to do a job of beautifying our souls that nothing else can produce. And to think how often folks holler because they want life easy!

They took the old barn down today and hauled it away to beautify a rich man's house. And I reckon someday you and I will be hauled off to Heaven to take on whatever chores the Good Lord has for us on the Great Sky Ranch. And I suspect we'll be more beautiful then, for the seasons we've been through...

Like the seasoned barn wood is used to beautify a home, the hard seasons in our lives, will surely bring a little bit of beauty into heaven.

WOW... that's awesome, hahahaha, I bet Karen will go with your idea of tearing it down (Not!) hehehehe, I love the textures here, so crisp and great in details, how did you do that? did you have to run many times of the "clarify" tools? or some special effect? Awesome captured, nice composition and contrast... good one cowgirl! :P

Have a great weekend,

Cheers,
Sweety

Again, I have enjoyed Karen Dareco´s gallery thanks to your note. Even this old and poor barn, with a window without a glass, looks pretty with the special tones/colors you placed on it. Excellent texture and composition. Beautiful. TFS

Great job on both the theme and the photo. I'm really impressed by the textures and colors you present here.
The placement of the window in the photo is quite nice too, has a nice feel to it there, seems as if I'm walking up for a peek in the window. ;)

Hi Linda,

Very nice. Well composed, with excellent contrast and sharpness. I like the few splashes of color in the otherwise very weathered wood.
