[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a photo of a sculpture at the Fort Worth Museum of Modern Art, a favorite haunt of mine and my husband (and daughter now). This sculpture is outside (it's huge). It is by Richard Serra and is named Vortex, 2000. I wanted to capture the texture. It has wonderful pattern where it is oxidizing. I took a close up and used it as a frame.

Here is more info on the piece-

At sixty seven feet tall, weighng 230 tons, and made of CorTen steel designed to oxidize over time and develop its own rich patina, Richard Serra's sculpture Vortex, 2002 is a monumental addition to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. It also has an intimate beauty of surprisingly human scale. (http://aphotoby.angrek.com/)

Here is another site that has extensive information. I urge you to look at it. It is very interesting...

-adjusted lighting and color slightly
-straightened a little
-border around frame

taklen at a very good angle, (*_*)

I like it, also a good taste for the frame.

cool! I love the frame. I usually don't like frames that are other then black or white but I really like this idea. Of course the photo is great too. Good saturated colors and nice composition. Very nice. JP

Very cool shot! I really like the frame.

Hi Amy,
Ft. Worth, again? Geez...so sorry. ;P I'm teasing, I was there once, before...and I know...about the big roaches!
Anyhow, nice shot. I like how the sculpture shoots up into the air like a big skyscraper. Glad the sky was blue that day, it's almost abstract by division of color. And your frame is really nice. The rust compliments the texture of the sculpture. Well done.
Richard

Hello My friend Amy
Quick reaction from my Vacation spot in Spain Torremolinos ( Internet cafe) and sending you all the way from here a Tulip for this nice photo ! So well done .. bravo
Bye for now

John

Your frame makes it special and your note tells it in a way a real part if the sculpture; the frame is like an iron frame to enclose that enormous thing.
Thanks
Huub

Very nice shot Amy! This corten steel will get darker as it age and will rust no more. I like your very imaginative frame.

Very nicely done, Amy, with a great point of view on this sculpture to show us its size and at the same creating something totally abstract. The frame is cool! Excellent!

Really nice...I love the texture of the steel, and the rust...Nice colors too...And the frame is very original.
La vue en contre-plongée est très bien réussie, et donne bcp de force à l'image!

COngradulations!

Nao

Interesting POV, do you think it better to fill the left hand corner with your subject since it is so large, or did you on purpose leave the space?
