Peacock Swallowtail
(Papilio palinarus daedalus)
Wingspan: 3 1/4 - 3 1/2 inches

Dave and I went to the butterfly museum a few weeks back and I had a blast looking around. This fellow here, an Emerald Peacock Swallowtail was well hidden, laying flat on a leaf. I only saw him because a group of people had to get past us on a narrow path, so I stook up on a rock and while I was up there, I spotted him. Many people had walked past him, not seeing him.

Hope you all have a great day!
B-)
Linda

That's really great, Linda! The green leaves are excellent for background for this green-dominant butterfly, technically this close-up shot is perfect, sharp and very detailed. Good job and useful note TFS!

Hi Linda
Superb macro with a an amazing sharpness so fine and delicate has the must delicate jewellery.
The detail is so fantastic that when I move the photo on or down in my screen the wings seems to tremble lightly.
Fantastic green in b/g emphasising the contrast and the sharpness. One more jewel in your delicate collection.
Have a good night, José

Ótima composição.

Hi, Linda -
Striking effect - the butterfly looks almost as though it a 3-D image superimposed over the leaf. Love the fine macro details of the wings - very sharp. Warm green tones. You got a lot great shots from this visit to the butterfly museum - I'll have to go there one day.

Butterfly is always spectacular to watch Linda - oh well I don't have to explain that to you, but these words are coming automatically out from my mouth:):):)
You've had really luck to spot him that way - another proof that it is nice to be gentle for others:):):)
I never had a chance to see that so beautiful butterfly - shape, colour and pattern is just fantastic.
Thank you so much for showing this one - breathtaking really.
Tom:):):)

Marvelous, breathtaking shot, Linda! Perfect sharpness and colours. I love green tones in this photo.
