With all this heat we have had some nice sunsets this year. We started early with the heat and it lingers on. Hope you all have a great Fourth of July! My goal here was the get the rays of sun to show. F16 is a good start for shooting the sun!

Hi Linda,
This is a gorgeous exposition of the sky, the soft light diffused by the clouds work great in this composition. The reflection of the trees and the clear, detailed silhouette on the surface of the water is very nice. Great shot, happy Independence Day!
Best wishes,
Kristof

Hi, Linda -
Happy 4th! This is a really powerful image and your settings really brought out the sun's rays while preserving the beautiful reflection. Very inspiring. I'm in Switzerland for a visit, so once again I will miss out on July 4th celebrations. Maybe there will be fireworks at the Montreux Jazz Festival tonight ...? Cheers -

Hi Linda,

Interesting silhouette. One can't tell where the trees end and their refelection begins. Excellent capture of the dramatic skies. Happy 4th, a good time to celebrate and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy.

Best regards,
Werner

Hi Linda,

I read somewhere that a volcano that erupted in Alaska has caused great sunsets worldwide, but I couldn't tell you as I am more a sunrise person - I'm generally working on something during the sunset!

You captured those rays very well, I'll remember to try f16 for that in the future. The overall shot is great, too, with the reflection and dark clouds.

Happy Fourth of July!

Hi Linda,
A nice thought of Independence Day!
This capture reprsents a spectacular sunset with a great reflection on the water.
A very nice silhouette of these trees with light passing through them, thus creating a nice pattern in the water.
A wonderful sky with sunrays clearly visible.
Good work.
Best regards,

Francis Xavier

I'm not sure I'm sold on the deep silhouette. I'd like to see some more definition in the tree-line. I know that's personal taste, but I'll own it.

The sun rays, on the other hand, are stunning. The silhouette doesn't matter too much when you have drama like that in the sky.

I like the mirroring of the tree tops with the clouds, almost as if the clouds had to fly immediately over the trees.

Lovely work,
skot

(What's the possibility of the heat ending before October this year? Will someone please turn the sun down?)

Hi Linda

I like the radiating sunbeams emanating from behind the clouds. Good sharpness, graphism, & mood. The subtle warm cold color contrasts, between the orange & blue, add charm. Tfs!

I must thank you for the tip on the F16. That's good to know. I've been trying this but not having very goo luck. This has great tones and mood. TFS
