**Yeah, it's a little noisey...I was afraid to remove it as I would lose detail.

Yesterday was a sort of an anniversary for me. I had to work late, it was a tough day...so I was feeling sorry for myself! HAHA!....sitting at the computer after work, just staring, when I heard thunder.

I raced outside with the camera and shot about 100 shots of this incredible light, massive clouds etc.
I processed the best and forwarded them onto the #1 news station in Houston, KTRK 13, an ABC affiliate.
I got them to the weather guy at 9AM and I made the 10 o'clock news!! My parents were watching and were tickled. This is the third time one of my weather photos have made the news. Not bad for the 4th largest city in the USA!

This is looking STRAIGHT up as the edge of the storm was right over my house. The bit of light is what was left of the sunset. I also have pics of the rain pouring and the sun behind the rain. I'll post that tomorrow.
Have a great day! My day ended on a high note!
B-)

I'm glad I'm here and not under that.
Nicely done, great capture of some spooky light and excellent details.
I can see why the news ran it.
Thanks,
Wilt

Hello Linda,
greetings on your (sort of) anniversary :) The image is magnificient! Your racing outside is worth as I see.
Thanks and regards, abhijit.

Send it north young lady, SEND IT NORTH. Isn't this state fantastic. Rain in the south, rain in the north and temps over 100 degrees and no rain in the center. I like the definition in the diff layers of the clouds. Congrats on the tv. Hope your grass grows a foot.:)
Johnny

Hi, Linda -
The noise really doesn't detract from this dramatic shot; what a powerful sky! Awesome light and colors. The cloud near the upper right corner that has sunlight across the top looks like a clenched fist to me. Congrats on having these appear on the air in Houston - you've certainly had your share of extreme storms there. Hope you rode out the storm o.k. - Cheers!

Hello Linda
Great shot of nature, simple yet well seen and taken. The changing colurs give this good depth, and the filter has enhanced things just enough.

Quite envious of your getting this on the News too!

Regards, Leslie

Wow, that looks menacing! I would start digging today and have a cool swim tomorrow! Nice perspective. You may have made the news there, but your news is travelling the world through TL, Linda...

Hi Linda,
This looks like it was taken from a plane window - even more impressive when you realise this is above you! Great shot, the colours and shapes of the clouds are amazing, could be a still from close encounters! Im pleasd I was'nt underneath it. TFS

Hello Linda,
Congrat's on another successful run to stardom. The grain adds mystique to a beautiful scene as these clouds and atmosphere display nature's most beautiful, yet most damaging form of cloud formations. Lightning has always been one of my favorites to catch, though it is rare that we here in the Portland metro area have a great light show as you do there in Texas.
A remarkable capture,
Great Work...
Steve

Hi Linda,

Congratulations on your exposure on the news! I hope you are keeping up a portfolio. This scene is really quite scary when you think about it. That is one heckufah massive cloud. I like the golden light at the tops of the clouds. Of course, the layers of clouds are immense. Is that vignetting around the edges, or the dark cloud? Be a careful storm chaser! :) Lisa

wow, amazing looking clouds, thats great they put the image on the news, thats very exciting, a great picture for sure,
great job, you could be their new "eye on the sky!" reporter,
thanks,
scott

Hi Linda

Wow! A dramatic thunderhead with good sharpness, colour & tonal range. It deserved to be chosen by the local news network, imho. Tfs, & have a great, & cooler weekend!

Hi Linda,
Well this looks quite spectacular. Superb cloudscape composition, but I have to disagree about the noise. For me it is very distractive and could easily avoid. The top part of the picture is a different view less noise. Nevertheless I think the dark noisy part is quite distractive, despite all the greenies I only want to "reward" this with a one point smilie....don't kill me please.
Hugs

Sorry to say that there is way too much noise in this shot maby if you shot it at 100 or 200iso it would of had alot less noise that it does here at 400 iso. Iam Against any noise in any shot if it can be helped, small barly visible amounts are acceptable but the amounts that are in this shot make it one example of how not to take a picture. Remember this is only my opinion and if I still had my older film shots of the sunrise from way before I started seriously had much better detail and tonns less noise from a cheap disposable.
