They're here! The first one buzzed past my ear on Saturday so I sat in the garden for an hour waiting for more. They have this marvelous little "squeak" when they arrive. So I can hear them up to about 100 feet away. All my garden plants are in full bloom and so they are ready! Tis the season! Extreme heat, killer humidity, hurricanes in the Carribean and hummingbirds zipping around!
I drug out my BIG lens for this one!
B-)
Linda

Hi Linda

Superb use of a shallow dof with nice bg bokeh. Good sharpness, & the red of the flowers contrasts well against the green bg. I've only ever seen a hummingbird in Thailand. Good motion blur on the wing tips. Tfs!

I am always amazed when I see a shot like this as I know how it can be difficult to capture and requires a lot of patience. The composition is great and everything is very sharp. Great shot.

Hi Linda

Beautiful shot of this hummingbird.
Not easy to catch birds in flight, my recycled bin knows that.
Nice composition with the flower diagonally across the picture.
TFS

Hi Linda!

Excellent shot, if you can't get closer then this is the way to compose.. Sharp and clear image. Next time I'd try going for ISO200 and a third brighter image and still have the chance for an even faster shutter. You won't totally freeze those wings either just a bit more. Anyway, a brilliant and wonderful image, TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Linda,
This is a stunning capture of this hummingbird. These little guys are so beautiful. I love the crop and the colors here. The red flowers and earth tone color of the bird look great against the green BG. Your patience paid off here.
Regards,
Kevin

Hi Linda,

Excellent shot, very well done, love the colour of the flower and excellent background.

Hi Linda,
thanks for the camera settings, now know how to shoot a Hummingbird with lots of details, instead of 90% blurred:)
Well captured, with just a hint of blurring at the top of its wing tips to show it is in fact alive & fluttering above the flower.I like the sharpness of this image as well as your composition.

Hi Linda,
Voilà! You have gained your noble letters in ornithological photography with this capture. And you did it with a great precision!
Your artistic composition with the beautiful diagonal flowered branch and vibrant colors make justice at this little guy with a lit eye!
Beautiful! Annie

Hi Linda,

Excellent capture of the Hummingbird, the colors and sharpness
are great. the details and light are very nice.
Great job.
Best regards,
John

Woah! Perfect timing Linda! The shutter speed looks excellent here, as does the aperture. Such rich colours and precise focus, this really is impressive. I hope someday that I'm as good as this when it comes to taking bird 'action' photos, I always seem to be in the wrong place, lol. Inspirational upload, well done.

TFS,
Scott.

Awesome, dude!
you have cught this perfectly.
i am so jealous. we don't get these birds as it is too cold for them.
the clarity is phenomenal and the colours are vibrant.
hugs,
Brian

Spot-on capture here, the sharpness and depth of field are exquisitely managed. Colours are rich and the dynamic range is perfectly controlled, nothing overexposed and everything beautifully within frame.

hey i almost missed this...that would of been a shame, look at this, its incredible! the red is so shiny, crystal clear and sharp, the bird is captured very well too and composed so skillfully, i thought to get the hummingbird you needed a shutter speed of 1/1,000,000th of a second HAHA!!! your good!
cool shot linda, have a good old texan day would yah!
thanks scott

I think you should sell this to a bird magazine. Fantastic!! Excellent detail and colors, perfect timing!! TFS

Hi, Linda -
Great grab from long distance! All of the fine details of the flower and bird are very sharp even with the lens fully extended. The exposure is perfect. The reds of the flowers really jump off the screen. Great one.

Hello Linda, good to hear from you! Great 1st hummer! Camera & lens did well on the wings. I do not hear mine squeak, just the wings when they are near maybe my old ears! I have gotten a lot of enjoyment from these tiny birds over the yrs. I have been posting some but not very good at answering, too busy this summer & too slow a typist. Take care, :} Don
