[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While at the grocery store the other day, my son wanted to buy my wife some flowers (he does this about every other time we go). He decided that she wanted some pink flowers and picked out a bunch of roses for $30. I gently encouraged him to pick something slightly less expensive and we ended up with these day lilies.

I took several shots of these flowers from several different angles with several different lighting schemes just to see how it all works. I isolated these from the bunch (I have a couple shots taken before I moved them and there is a lot of clutter) and positioned them to interact and contrast. I placed the flowers in front of a black background. There was one studio light positioned to the right of the image and slightly behind the flower with a reflector directly opposite (left and in front). I then tripped over the tripod which was touching the stool upon which the flowers were placed and had to wait about two minutes for everything to settle down. I fired the remote release and pretty much got this.

All I did in Photoshop was cloned out a small portion of petal that had encroached into the bottom left of the frame, sharpened, resized, and saved.

I'll try to post another from this shoot tomorrow.

Hi Scott

Everything is this photo is perfect, the sharpness and lighting is excellent.

Great job
TFS

In addition to comment of Joe, I think also the BG works very fine.
Lilies are beautiful flowers, and their clarity is enhanced by the darkness.

Ciao, Antonella

Hi Scott
Your little one has expensive taste! Roses!
His 2nd choice is very nice..
I really like the light on the bloom! the added bud is really nice

Tricia

Love the detail and the contrast b/t the bud and the open flower.

Hello Scott,
a beautiful shot of this flower. A stunning soft and pestel colour subject against the dark background. Great sharpness and very clear shot.
Great thought in composition to allow the concept to be understood.

Regards,
Foozi
