I was at the local hobby shop picking up some mat board the other day and this wooden artists' model captured my eye. For, like, $3 I couldn't really pass it up.
I've spent the last several day just playing with it on the couch while I watch TV, looking at poses and trying to find something interesting to do with it. I have absolutely no connection with dance and really have no idea if this even resembles an actual position, but I though "Dancer" was a better title than "Swashbuckler."
I placed the model in front of my black background and put a light high, behind, and to the right of the image. I had to stop my camera down to -4EV to prevent the model from getting overexposed (that might have something to do with my metering set to center-point, but I'd still have to step-down anyway).
In CameraRaw, I nudged exposure a little. In Photoshop, I applied a Brightness/Contrast layer with no edit, set to Linear Burn, 35% opacity; unsharp mask, and saved for the web.
I'm going to try some more with this model. It may be a way to brush up on my portraits.
