Leisure Reading 3
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took a bunch of photos for they Leisure Reading theme. I’ll only share three, though, and move on.
I wanted to selectively focus on the title of the book through my wife’s glasses. Unfortunately, her prescription isn’t strong enough to change the focal point significantly.
I thought the contrast between the story of migrant workers during the Dust Bowl and the Ralph Lauren glasses was poignant. |

Scott,
Before I read your note, I was going to mention something sarcastic about paradoxes... but you are a very shrewd mammal and nothing much escapes your attention.
On another note, I know how you feel about adding to a scene something that wasn't there regardless of how subtle it may be. Photo Puritan that you are, I must play Devil's Advocate to you and suggest my workshop to this photo.
It wanted some slight blurring of the book not under the gaze of your wife's specs. So I added a blur and masked out the area of the lenses. Thoughts?

Some good elements in this one Scott, and some not-so-good.
Good - the clean sharp clarity of the letters, the detail of the glasses' frame.
Not so good - well, for me, the half-cut lens on the left, and the negative space across the top of the image, something here feels quite careless. Maybe the intention was for it to be a little casual?
I agree, thicker lenses would've had a greater impact, but I'm happy for your wife that her prescription isn't stronger!
