While my kids were playing at Bledsoe-Miller park here in Waco, I saw this little guy running around. I talked to him and his mother and snapped this impromptu portrait at the opening of one of the tunnels.
I'm still waiting to bump into his mom again (we saw each other twice before this image was made) to give her a copy.
-----
Workshop includes an image taken 10 minutes prior to demonstrate the lighting problems inside this particular tunnel.
-----
Post Processing:
After importing this photo into Lightroom 2, I bumped up the exposure slightly and then had to pull back the highlights a little. I sharpened, added a vignette, and output to JPG. |

Hi, Scott -
This is a great candid portrait - not sure why it has not gotten more attention. Interesting POV with her looking up at the lens, and her expression is great - a smile seems on the verge of breaking out. The vignette was a good idea to reduce any distracting background and put the focus on the subject. Great eyes with a hint of catchlight. Well done.
Hi Scott, really nice shot. I like the nice shade of green of the tunnel behind him as it really brings out the blue in his eyes, and the blue of his T-shirt .. and really makes his whispy blonde curls stand out too. Nice comp.
Good job

Aww cute. A sweet little face, and nice post-work with the vignetting, although I personally find children's photos look better when they are bright and warm, rather than the cool, slightly 'dangerous' feeling temperature of this?
I also think that the looking-down-at-the-child angle is done so often, it's nicer to get down to their level and take an eye-level, or even below-eye-level shot?
Nice work tho!

Aw cute. I just have one question, shouldn't you be down on his level? Is there an exception to the rule? I like the colors, looks more like he's at the aquarium rather then the park. I'm sure momma would love a copy.
