[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Got a new toy the other day and was trying it out. This is one of the very first shots I took with it, so it's not perfect.

I convinced my son to stand still for about 0.07 nanoseconds (which must have roughly equated to my shutter speed) and popped off this quick portrait in front of our north-facing bow window.

Post-processing in Lightroom 2:
* Pulled highlights back
* Pushed blacks up
* Added contrast to compensate
* Added clarity, vibrance, and saturation
* Output to JPG

In response to Rew's comment on my last photo, I decided to warm this one up a bit. That's in the workshop. Please let me know what you think.

hello Scott
good shot and fine expressions you have got here. good colours on his t-shirt
nice eye contact, two things which i feel to add here are.. a little headroom and a space at the right of the frame as his hand is cropped. if you get another chance to click him please include the hand a little headroom
thanks for sharing

regards
Manuj Mehta

great portrait- i like the lighting and your son's expression! nice work by both of you!

Scott, this is an awesome way to test out your new toy! You are fortunate that he likes to be photographed. I have to twist Phillip's arm to get him to pose (and it shows in his facial expressions!).

light the light here is good but his face seems to be a little underexposed in places.
composition the composition is very nice but I would included both arms and all of his head.
clarity and sharpness I am really digging the fact that you can see such detail in the shirt that the texture of the cotton is there!

Well done.
MP

Hi Scott,
What a wonderfull boy. Love the moment you've caught. I kind of wish you would haved caught the entire hand, but still a real nice shot.

I do find it a bit on the cold side, color wise. and lack a little punch...))) Check out the workshop which let you see my point of view.
