This Aviation Ordnanceman (AO) is securing ordnance while standing on the wing of an F/A-18 Hornet jet just returning from a mission. He is just starting his "day". He works night shift, so his day begins at 7pm and ends whenever his supervisors say it ends the next day. During this 6 1/2 deployment the airwing flew over 32,425 flight hours. This makes for long working hours as you can imagine for all involved with the aircraft.

Please, this is not meant to persuade anyone's opinion on the war. It is simply documentation of my time spent on the Roosevelt. I hope no one finds it offensive.

ABOARD USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) (January 11, 2002)...
Upon the completion of flight operations Aviation Ordnancemen of the VFA-82 "Marauders" secure ordnance on an F/A-18 Hornet on board USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). The Marauders are part of Carrier Air Wing One (CVW 1) currently deployed with the nuclear powered aircraft carrier in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from the Arabian Sea.

I know it's not the greatest quality, but that is due to me only having one copy of this image and it is 5X7 100 dpi (700 px)...I know it sucks :)
I cropped and cloned out a portion of aircraft wing that was in the lower right corner. The color/hues are natural as in my other sunset photos here and here . The most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.

Well done, Stacey. The colours are great. I like the silhouette of the man, and the very small sun next to him. TFS.
Still a great song too.

Very nice Stacey! The black sillouete of this man and the dying sun next to him makes a very nice and dramatical scene! Great colors too!

No new post, but a new intro photo. Now, that's a novelty I haven't yet encountered. So I had to go back and comment one of the old ones, Stacey. This shot is funny in that it is one of the few sunset that might work better without the sun. The sun always attracts our attention and here it distracts slightly from the silhouette, that actually has a lot going for it. OK,it's a silly remark but can you imagine this with the sun cloned out?

nice composition, a very good sillouete and a lovely sky

Hi Stacey,

You took advantage of a good composition with sillhuottes and getting a very good colors from a sunset. Well done!!

Saludes,

Iris
