[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Took this almost exactly 3 years ago aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt during Operation Enduring Freedom. Yup, if you haven't guessed it this is the beautiful & talented Miss Jessica Simpson. She, along with a few other celebrities (including her -then boyfriend- Nick Lachey of the boyband 98 degrees) flew out to visit us during a USO tour.

She is seen here signing autographs for the Sailors & Marines onboard the ship. You wanna see a LONG line? Just go on a Naval ship that has been underway with no port visits for 3 1/2 months when a beautiful young popstar comes aboard...:D

I was assigned to be their photographer during the autograph signing session, but she also put on a concert the next day in the hangarbay for all to attend. I hate to say it, but she was not a big hit with all the female Sailors onboard. And I don't mean because of jealousy (no REALLY!! :D). Here's why, she had the audacity when she first got up on stage in front of about 1/2 the ships company (2,500 people or so) & say in her sexiest voice imaginable "boys, boys, boys".------ A silence fell over the ship & I would venture to say that about EVERY single female in that audience got up and left just full of disgust. I mean, it's not enough that we had to hear our fellow male shipmates ooh & ahh at the sight of her all dolled-up as we are in our greasy coveralls & slicked back messy hairdo's at the end of another 14 hour workday, but for her to act like we weren't even there? was just the "straw that broke the camels back" i guess...hehe It wasn't just that, it was some other things on top of it, but I will spare you all my complaining haha. Don't get me wrong...she is still wonderfully talented & has the voice of an angel. Maybe I will find it in my heart to forgive her some day hehe. I can look back and laugh now, but then...not many smiles around ;)

In PS 7 I blurred the background to try & subdue some of the ship's "ugliness" as I call it :) I didn't overdo it because I still wanted the USO sign to be readable. I brightened the foreground using adjustment layers. And I also noticed that this young Sailor has a light growing out of his head...oops! :D
oh, and I also added a gradient layer frame

Good shoot stacey with the contrast war/love. Bye.

She isn't exactly the sharpest tack in the box, its too bad that she didn't have the intellect to acknowledge her very brave "sisters" onboard. A lovely shot as always Stacey. As a side note: Thank you for your service to our country!

Very nice composition and angle. I like what you did with the blur on the background. Your note was very interesting and informative. I didn't know she was like that.

.... Girls Rule!

The expression is fascinating. Between the eyes... I like it!

Jessica Who ? Never heard of the girl, Stacey...
I like what you did in PP, it's almost unnoticeable, and IMO that's how it should be. The only thing I'm not that fond of is the frame; but I know, who's looking at the frame ;o). TFS.

Stacey, you composed this shot Beautifully. The colors are excelent. Nice to have some perks eh? You deserved it.
Well done

Mike

Nice one. You caught a nice moment there with JS' eyes on the soldier. No doubt a pretty girl (though, as we've seen from her show, a touch flighty). Nice note too (hahahaha!). I'm not a fan of the border though.

OMG! The nerve of that Jessica Simpson! Imagine, a gal showing up on a ship without a blue one piece that looks like a potato sack with sleeves and legs. And oh, I'm appalled......a hair style that doesn't look like it was pressed together by a sweaty cranial. Jeez, you'd think the least she could have done was wear one of those many colored flight deck jerseys. You know the ones I'm talking about? Where the well shaped gals wear two sizes too big, and the big boned girls wear two sized too small?
Man! The nerve of that gal lookin' all sexy and s**t! Heh...heh....
On a lighter note, I like the way you blurred the background. It reminds me of another famous photo of a Navy recruit CC bawling out a recruit while the rest of the company is in the background(deliberatly blurred).
Good job Stacey!

Now that's a realy good note! No pritty girl she is, sure of that, sorry. Both of them, she the most should be at TU, a new photosite, TrekUnaturel. Mr. GI-Joe with his rolled up sleaves is the only one who still has a lot of honor. The woman.. no, she illustrates that by her own words, "boys, boys" trying to illiminate the presence of true and honest woman with lots of honor.

Your photo illustrates all of this. Realise that she's acting like a portion of spareribs, addored by men, disgusted by most woman. She aggreed to have the exact same status. When the Navy gives a party they should also invite the opposit of spareribs... some salades...(hehe)

I missed this one! Is your former life calling on you? ;) Poor Jessica... and she thought she was doing so good! Your note is humorous. I guess she did not have to sign many fan photos of the ladies...

My points are up for today, I'll give 'em tomorrow!

Wow, what a note, Stacey. You really had something to get off your chest there. If you don't mind me saying so, a lot of people are being deluded: You are a lot prettier than she is. In fact from the thumbnail I thought it was a Barbie doll in a shop window. So so much for angel voice and don't you ever forgive her. A celebrity should know better.

not hard to believe
she's "not all that"
i would even dare to say
that the subjects of eleparc's
Christmas 2004 at Harrod's theme
have much more enticing facial expressions ;-)

interesting image and note stacey..
i have to admit i have heard some of these lines before somewhere ..
anyway look at the bright side atleast the "boy" looks happy
haha
your exposure on jessica simpson seems to be much better than on the soldier
any particular reason??? ;)
take care

p.s. why the particular title????

eh, wow, a star... woopty do. I more enjoyed reading your comment instead because, I myself am in the navy and being a female around all males is difficult enough I can only imagine around a sex icon like Jessica Simpson. But, she's not as glamorous in person as I thought she'd be. And she looks like she's bored. I think it gives off a negative vibe from her. And the contrast of the excitment in the sailors face. Thats what I THINK makes it a great shot.

Very nice shot :)

sorry, I don't know anything about Jessica Simpson, but the photo for me is all about the look on the guy's face -- priceless. Don't know a thing about him, either, but he looks young, naive, expectant, forthright and VULNERABLE . . . touching, almost heart-breaking. I like the POV vis-a-vis the guy; also his arm with the macho rolled-up sleeve -- a "boy/man" thing.

Wish everyone could understand what our servicemen and -women face every day.

The juxtaposition of this "real" guy and this "doll" is dramatic. [BTW, her personal manager, agent, makeup artist, whatever, needs to give her a clue about her nails. Nice set of fakes, but change the color -- jeeeeessshh! LOL! more effective, even on stage, would be a color that fit better with the over-all color tone of her hair and complexion.]

I tend to agree with JLJ05's comment about the girl, but I can't decide: is she bored, or just extremely insincere? LOL!

You made a great picture that sums up so much.

beautiful expression of face. sexy look !!!
nicely captured. very good POV.
ur note is like a story :)

sangeeth
