:)))

I was visiting my sister and the lady across the alley had a beautiful flower garden. I spied this bee getting filled up on the nectar from daisies and took a few shots of it. He stopped here and looked like he had about gotten his limit.

I was surprised that my Sigma 18 - 200 did as good a job on a macro shot as this. Either I'd forgotten or just never noticed. Did the usual - cropped, sharpened, noise reduction and a bit of tweaking on the color. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Shelly
Excellent. She looks like a sotted old gin lover, with her fur coat, after one too many sherries.... "One more little one for the road darling"

Hi Shelly,
I really like your DOF, which I'm surprised with its softness, due to the choice of a f/8 ,I thought it would be more detailed with using that aperture,so I'm learning again,& that's a good thing. In MHOP this is a very sharp detailed macro & I think you thought about including or not including the red stem at the left,I'm glad it's included just makes for a good strong composition & it balance the whole image.Well seen & captured.

Hi Shelly,

A splendid macro capture of this black bee on a beautiful yellow flower! The details are simply superb with wonderful sharpness and nice POV. The DOF is simply great.
Very well done!

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Shelly
Nice macro of this amazing insect
The colors are brilliant and well saturated here
The focus however is not perfect, but good
Best wishes

Hi Shelly,
I like the title and the way is suits the photo. Honestly I don't think the quality of this photo is very good. It looks like you got some movement which is possible with such a shutter speed and focal length. The entire photo looks a little blurry. Try to stick with the same shutter speed as your focal length. In this case a shutter speed of 200.

Niek

hello Shelly,
excelent shot. I like the way the bee is spreadeagled over the flower.I like the vibrant yellow and the nice coloured bokeh. I have a sigma 18-2oomm too, its the lens I almost always have on my camera and had no idea it could do this!
But waht strange looking bees you have over there! It looks like a bluebottle in a furry coat.

Hi Shelly
Good DOF. The bee is sharp where it counts and it stands out against the yellow flower. I have mixed feeling about the stem on the left as it competes for our attention. Maybe if it was blurred a bit???
Cheers
Phil

Shelly, Looks like a really fat bee! You're right; too much nectar. But then is too much ever enough? I too have a Sigma 18-200 on my Nikon D90 and have had excellent success with it. I think the main reason you felt it wasn't as sharp as you thought it should be was because you didn't use a tripod. At 125/sec, even at f/8, hand held, at the mm you had to use just wasn't the right scenario. Tripod would have been much better, which I am sure you know by now. But then a tripod is not always handy at hand when you need it. So... great shot with what you had to work with!

Hi Shelly,

This stuffed bee is just great!
The image lack just a tad of sharpness, but that sure doesn't stop from enjoying this picture. Lovely brightness, composition and colors!

Cheers,
Anneke
