A Closer view of the Mendenhall Glacier

| Folloowing my post yesterday of the Mendenhall Glacier, I have today a shot taken from the same viewpoint but using my 200mm zoom lens to get a closer view of the formation of the glacier where it meets the river. |

Hi Joan - i'm going to give this a "one pointer" because there are some aspects I like but I think the image could be better. Sorry...!
I like the scale that you have presented here, we do get a feel of just how immense this glacier is. The boats and kayak put everything into perspective nicely.
However, the image isn't that sharp. I see you used ISO of 100...I think that could easily have been beefed up to 400 and I don;t think you needed f6.3, a wider aperture would have been fine. By making those changes you could have used a far quicker shutter speed for a sharper shot.
As a rough rule of thumb, use a shutterspeed quicker than 1/focal length. i.e. for 200mm, shoot quicker than 1/200.
Sorry...hope this helps a bit...
Hi Joan.
I love looking at any pictures of Alaska. I always hada longing to go there and went there finaly last year, and saw this glacier on my travels. It was so beautiful, so i love this photo because it brought back memories, only now I want to go back.!!
Cheers
