[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Looking like a veteran sea salt, this fishing companion is actually a university administrator. Taken from a boat departing Seward, Alaska for a day of halibut fishing.

Howdy Greg!
Very interesting portrait. Original picture. Good light and sharp.

An exceptional portrait here Greg! A man in his element for sure! The BW works great here, love the serious face. Not an easy pic to take! Nice work!

Hi Greg,
amazing portrait. superb choice of B/W. The dof is good, too, and the sharpness and contrast are fine. You can even make out the crinkles in his face.
Thanks a lot for sharing, Heike

ps: No, you would have never guessed it wasn't a professional fisherman.

Hi Greg - just had a look at your portfolio after you kindly critiqued one of my snaps and this portrait really jumped out. It has a 'wow' factor, that's for sure. That's a strong face well complemented by the dramatic backdrop. Maybe a slight crop from the bottom and right would decentralise the face and make it more prominent in the image - but I really don;t want to detract from this shot at all. It's one of those that makes me think "i wish i'd taken that". Great shot.

Ezxcellent portrait photography.

I like so much this picture.
It is full of life. Ok, your university administrator looks like a professional actor, but in your picture you can smell the "stink" of the sea.

Amazing!

Great shot Greg! I like the background - it pushes the main object to the fore. Perfect topic for B&W - ice white to pitch black. The wake makes this very "central" composition work well. It creates two diagonals that "present" the man. He definitely looks like an old sea salt :) I would try to get more light into the eyes... Catchlight??? TFS

You have created a brilliant image here Greg, you can not tell..sea salt or Uni Admin. dont know if thats a good thing for him?
The image has loads of caracter, the contrast in the B&W brings htis out far more than colour imo. Great shot. TFS
