Chapel Lane in Sedona, Arizona has a generous number of very architecturally original, astute churches which reflect the Southwest and the environment.
This church ( Sorry, I do not remember the domination) has the zigarets (the zig zags) so prevalent in southwest architecture, and which also is reflected in the red rock mass in the background. It appears to me that the zigarets and the mountain act as somewhat of a mirror image to one another.

By design, these churches seem to grow out of the ground, but with a lot of class! This is a very simple but stunning design.

Technically, I could have done with more sky. I cannot see though the LCD screen on sunny days ( I miss a view finder). The church is a little bit too much in the centre of the image for my liking. Sometimes you get what you get.

HI Joni
You are right there are times when its impossible to get what what you want because of unforeseen obstacles, but I have to admit that you did a great job with this one.
Love the reflection of the sky in the window and I am guessing that these churches are built with clay from the rocks.
Very nice shot

I think you got what you wanted to: an effective and attractive confront between the rocky mountain and this original church. I generally don't like modern architecture but this one, I think, is an exception, perhaps because your wise composition take the best out of it. The juniper bushes, so brilliant green and the intense blue sky complement wonderfully the warm colour both of the church and mountain.
I appreciate that the cross is on the corner and so it doesn't disturb the borderline of the building.

I'm sympathetic to you about the LCD screen, I've got a Canon G9, and it's a torture every time I have to look through it in strong sunshine! But that's the price we pay for travelling light...
Best regards and compliments,
Donato

Bonjour Joni,
Quelle architecture!
Sobre, simple, bien intégrée dans le paysage!
La végétation la met bien en valeur et le ciel lui donne du relief!
Bien vu
Amicalement Odile

Hello Joni
What an appealing style!
Its color matches perfectly that of mountain at backdrop.
The decorative shrubs add scaling information.
Thanks for showing.
Best regards.
Robert
