The red rocks of Sedona , Arizona and the quintessential landscape we were used to seeing in the Western movies, when they were the action movies of their day--The Wild West.
The rocks are made of sandstone and have this distinctive red colour and many layers. As the rock is relatively soft it can be eroded into flutes and columns by the elements.

I continue to be on a huge learning curve. This week I learnt about the need for screen calibration. I discovered the calibration of the screen at home is way off, so I can only despair at what my images have looked like on other monitors, as I send out these images to be shared with the TL community. (As it is, I send my images out with a fair amount of trepitation) Do I hang my head now in shame or what?

And then to top it all off, I discover that even calibrated screens on different monitors all lend a different result. So, I ask myself, how does one deal with this?

My original posting was on the incorrectly calibrated screen at home. This re-post is on a different monitor in a different country.
Also, while in the UK I have had a PP tutorial session with my friend Jackie. Hopefully this is an improvement.

Hi Joni,
This is a fantastic shot, I love it going to add it to my favourites.
The colours are good, the detail is good and the composition is good.
I have never been out of the UK but would love to visit somewhere like this given the opportunity.

A nice clone job on the bright patch up front, Joni. But I'm afraid I prefer the colours of the original, whether your monitor is calibrated or not. Maybe a bit colder there (especially in the sky, which does look more natural in the repost). Colours in the repost are way too saturated IMO.

Be sure to include a colour profile in the jpg when you save it. That way it should look more or less the same on every monitor. (In theory, that is).

Bravo Joni, j'adore cette image. Elle me rapelle les bons vieux films avec les indiens et les cowboys. Beaucoup de souvenirs dans cette photo. Malheureusement, les nuages n'étaient pas au rendez-vous. Félicitation. Gilles

hi Joni

Hi Joni.
IMO, I like the colours on your final version better than on the original. Those red rocks may seem unrealistic to some but I know that's what they are like. Nice panoramic composition too. TFS. Karin.

Bravo et bonne journée.
Cordialement

hello! J' adore this photograph one would say a landscape of rève! J' would like to go one day in l' Arizona!

Hi Joni,

I still did not have a look at screen callibration, it simply is too technical for me, however on my sisters computerscreen the pictures looks almost the same, so I hope for the best.
At the moment I am planning a western wedding for our daughter, so this title really caught my attention.
Those mountains are indeed very attractive, all those layers of sandstone sure make an impression.
Wish you more fun with discovering all those possibilities of PP work.

Hello Joni,
this a lovely shot of the rocks. Used to see in WEstern movies. Well composed and lovely colours that addimpact to the existing pretty landscape.

Regards,
Foozi

Hi Joni...
Great image. Excellent colours, detail and light, but I think it suffers a bit from the choice of frame, and (as with my 'Hanmore Lake' photo) the horizon is a bit off-kilter. The image should be framed to present a more 'expansive' feel to highlight the foreground to background composition (adding depth). I've done a WS to illustrate what I mean - let me know what you think.
Peter

Hello - nice scenery, well caught. Arizona is definitely a place i would like to see. Good shot.

Bonjour Joni,

J'adore cette photo, la remaniement est superbe, le choix des couleurs judicieux.

Et cela traduit à merveille les canyons tels qu'on les imagine!!!
