Chapel of the Holly Cross with detail from inside.
Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona Arizona
The Chapel of the Holy Cross has been a compelling Sedona landmark since its completion in 1956. Designed by Marguerite Brunswig Statude , a pupil of Frank Lloyd Wright, the Chapel appears to rise out of the surrounding red rocks. The towering cross and awesome panorama of buttes, valley and sky are a source of inspiration inviting rest and reflection.
The Chapel is open from 9am to 5pm daily and closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. There is a downstairs gift shop that is not to be missed- unique religious articles including a large selection of unusual crosses and rosaries of native stones.
Chapel of the Holy Cross belongs to the parish of St. John Vianney in Sedona and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix. Visitors are invited to attend a brief evening prayer service on every Monday evenings at 5pm.
- Small photo in down corner is detail from inside.
Thanks to have a look, George |
