Another picture from Tombstone, Arizona.

What I liked about this was the menacing sky and I knew before I converted to B&W that the sky deserved to be dominant and that the best way to show this sky at it's best was to convert to B&W.

I'm very much into B&W at the moment even though for some strange reason they don't get as much interest as colour images here on Treklens, however, i'll keep plugging away to convert as many as I can into B&W lovers too.

PP resized, converted to B&W via channels (more red and less blue), resharpened and finally title and border added.

Hope you like it!

Great B&W shot Dean, ideal scene too with high noon sunlight... The B&W works very well, nice view without any traffic too.

A great place to visit - I've got loads of old slides of the place that ned digitising..

The frame is good in this case - nicely done..
DAvid

Another excellent shot - personally I liked the Dead wood a tad better, but this one has all the elements that make BW photography great. Good positioning, good light, and proper sharpening - crisp, but without halos or other artifacts.

Hi Dean,

Nice clear shot!
Maybe some of the white boards are overexposed
But overall very nice!

Hi Dean,
Great shot!
It looks like a very cool place!
The sky on the photo is wonderful.
Well done

Good luck

Mieky,

Hi Dean,
Stunning this emptiness of this little town! It creates a weird mood, almost mysterious. The contrast here is superb, it's not easy to prevent OE of those fluffy clouds, but you managed it well. Great presentation in the wide white frame.
Hans

Great capture! perfect postcard pic. Liked the B&W treatment and the crystal clear sharpness.

Regards,
Abhishek

Hi Dean,
fantastic tonal range, compositional and visual balance.
I'm not really keen on B&W images - but you've done this so well, it got my attention.
The sky looks gorgeous.

Well done. Best regards, Daniel

Hi Dean,

The perfect image for black and white, blue sky with the red filter works every time,
works well with no people in sight, you should have rolled a ball of tumble weed into frame.

Cheers
Douglas

Bonsoir Dean,
Il ne manque dans cette rue que des cow-boys pour un duel. Le sujet est excellent avec un bon POV. Le B&W est réussi. J'aurais cependant aimé voir l'original en couleur.

Hi Dean
This is a splendid photo that reminds me of old American Western Flickers. I can imagine two bandits fighting in a duel in the middle of the dirt road. Your sky is very well contrasted and you were lucky to have a deserted street to shoot. The image is very sharp and you got a very good depth of field. The white building on the sunny side seems to be overexposed though and the Stars and Stripes is a bit disturbing, being too modern for this scenery. It's still a beautiful photo.
Nicely done

Hi Dean,

Colour is just "easy" and familiar ^-^.
I tried B&W pictures and found that it is not at all easy. Your picture is very neat/clear abd it seems judging by the short shadows that this must be middday, then the contrast are also very sharp and that is what you need for B&W. I am still in the experimenting stage, but you seem to do good with the B&W.
The sky is like another street above your head here, you can feel the movements of the clouds, as if they are coming towards you.
I only miss one thing and that is a tumbleweed --.

Hi Dean,

wonderful conversion, and indeed using more red increases the contrast of a sky or blue field background, just like when actually shooting in B&W with red filter. Do post more B&W, for me it's classic and renders the picture with less distraction. Again I cannot stress more on your powerful tonality, perspective and the impact and drama of a deserted street.

Zane

The laid-back village mood in this picture is very well expressed Dean, and the sky is a 100 pointer!
Thanks.

Very nice Dean. This definately captures the flavor of downtown Tombstone. Well composed, with good lighting and tones. B&W works well here and really adds to the overall mood.

David
